  1. Howard gets everywhere...... Welcome to the Forum. As a modeller and an aircraft restorer I think that NAM is a wonderful place, the shop aint half bad either John
  2. As mentioned, the tailcone should be blunt but there should also be a spring actuator and fairing on the heatshield forward of the tailcone hinge. Not mentioned elsewhere is the single antenna on the secondary heat exchanger fairing directly behind the canopy. I'm pretty sure that the stbd No.1 leading edge panel (next to the intekae) on the GR3 etc should be painted whereas the GR1 was left in black. This was due to the internal deletion of the HF radio antenna. John
  3. make sure they're 104 Adours though, 741 wasn't upgraded. I don't think a 106 is compatible although I could eb mistaken John
  4. Hi Graham Will see what I can find out but as discussed it may take some time. If you need any advice just give me a shout. John
  5. I'm pretty sure that the Dambuster Lancs did not have a turret as such but had a single 'K' gun gimbal mounted in the lower fuselage as a scare gun. IIRC they found one at the crash site of a 617 Lanc ansd was fetured in a recent Channel 4 documentary on the Raid (the Last Dambuster??) John
  6. IIRC the Microturbo was in the port airbrake bay
  7. Deans pictures show the tailcone configuration perfectly. As Ollie asked what differentiated the marks externally, it's easier to make a GR1 from the kit than a GR3, GR1 has twin heat exchanger fairing aerials and no GPS and may or may not have the hinged tailcone depending on the aircraft modelled and during which time period. Sorry if I caused confusion John
  8. Ollie, no probs 1. This link from the front shows the single blade antenna and you can just make out the GPS antenna fwd of the windscreen: http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Se...01f49c47f9d6f98 2. This link shows the hinged tailcone from the rear: http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Se...c88fa808f29c592 I think that there was a thread on here recently (The perfect Jag)? which had some good shots taken at Coltishall and would probably have a lot of the detail required, unfortunately I've lent my AP out so I can't give you some scans. Hope this helps John
  9. GR3 - Single blade antenna on the secondary heat exchanger fairing immediately aft of the cockpit, all GR3s had hinged tailcones not the black plastic noddy cap although the mod started in the mid 80s so you'll have to check your references. IIRC the GR3 also had a small GPS antenna on the fairing immediately forward of the windscreen. Depending on what period you intend portraying the style of the anti-col lights changed as well regards john
  10. Ill be there with my Chipmunk WP927, Dave you can catch up with her again
  11. Your model looks every part a Jaguar and I wish that I could make them to that standard cheers John
  12. No problem, 356 was one of the first Jags I ever worked on so it sticks in my memory. If you really want to go to town you could modify the tailcone to make it a hinged one as by this time most if not all ac had this modification (I think photos show it on 356). It's fairly simple to do, you need to take about 3mm from the very end of the cone, fill it and slightly round off the edges. Then on the lower surface of the heatshield there should be a small thin fairing about 5 to 6mm long (IIRC) that would have housed the spring actuator for the tailcone. This detail is often missed on models of Jags from the mid 1980s onwards. All dimensions are actual for 1/72 scale. Hope this helps John
  13. Hi raphael She looks really nice, but I'm afraid you've got the wrong serial on her, she should be XZ356 regards John
  14. Just a quick update, WP927 was at the Queend Coronation review in 1953 and was in the second row of the crescent immediately in front of the viewing stand (although exact location unknown), so if anyone has pictures of this event with Chippies in, you never know she might be in the background TIA John]
  15. Thanks Tony, will do that cheers John
  16. Hi all This is my first post here and apart from being a keen modeller, I also own the cockpit of the above aircraft which I'm restoring. To that end, I've been having problems finding pictures of her in RAF service and I'm hoping that someone out there might be able to help me as not only do I need to re-creat the colour scheme on the 1:1 example I'm also making the 1/48 Aeroclub kit as well. TIA John
