goon Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Hi gang, After the long drawn out agony of the Hawkeye I reached a nice simple kit down off the shelf, with the intention of a quick build to get the juices going again. As you know, the road to Hell is paved with such good intentions (or something) and I've succumbed to adding some detail. I wasn't even going to WIP it, but why not? Here is the under side in it's preliminary coat of Xtracolor. Top side with the pre-shading. The sensor turrent is particularly lacking in the kit, so I've drilled out the holes, added some lenses and colour and some 'frames' from wire. The main sensor has some old decals behind the glazing to represent whatever it is behind there. I also raided the decal spares for some little bits that look like the warning stencils. I'd say it was more in the 'inspired by reality' camp than 'scale fidelity', but it's an improvement. Thanks for looking, more soon, Gareth
HOUSTON Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Gareth , This looks like a interesting thread ..wow !!! she looks MASSIVE....
goon Posted August 14, 2011 Author Posted August 14, 2011 (edited) Lots of work done. The fantastic Caracal decals are on, not many markings so it doesn't take long! Closer view. I've made some brake disks and calipers, and added a brake hose. I've had a disaster with the sensor turret. I had to remove the main transparency after the Klear I use to fix it attacked the paint. Whilst cleaning it I lost it. I'm currently trying to fashion a replacement. Thanks for looking. Edited August 14, 2011 by goon
SimonT Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Wow, very cool. Sorry to hear about the setback. Can't wait to see the finished article. Simon
