Dr_Fester Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 (edited) Hi, I know, I know, still a few more weeks before the GB kicks off but just to show what I will be building. The '06 Honda of Aussie Casey Stoner in his debut season. Parcel arrived this week from Hiroboy containing ALL the goodies I need to superdetail this bike. Top Studio paddock stand to replace the UGLY kit one and the awesome Top Studio detail set which seems pretty daunting after a quick scan of the instructions. Beautiful turned ali exhausts and plenty of P/E included, would you believe I actually have to make the wiring loom and heatshrink the cables! Just one step away from bump starting the damn thing . I bought some green tubing to be used for the braking system as most motogp bikes seem to have. Also a sheet of close weave c/f decal. As I said this build won't be started before the GB kicks off as I'm just embarking on the Tamiya Kwaka ZX-RR which I couldn't leave alone. ZX-RR Build Cheers Doc Edited November 24, 2007 by Dr_Fester
Bennygman Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I looked at those sets for my Honda, but chickened out in the end and decided on just the pe set from 'Crazy modeller'. That's decided it then - no way am I going to do one of these for the build and have it compared to yours! Audi R10 here I come. Steve.
Dr_Fester Posted November 25, 2007 Author Posted November 25, 2007 That's decided it then - no way am I going to do one of these for the build and have it compared to yours! Go on Steve, you've not seen the state of my bike builds then Which Honda ARE you building for the GB? Doc
Hector Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Cant wait, start your build,I have katos bike in the stash, well its from my brother, but I´m thinking in finishing it. Lets see your build. Bye for now. Héctor
dswoofie Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Cool!, sounds like there's lots of work to go into it. Should make for a stunner in your hands anyway. Roll on 19th Jan!!!! Karl. P.S. Noticed that both you and Skii have got driver helmet avatars lately... you with de Angelis, and Skii with Bellof... could very well start a trend for the GB!!
Dr_Fester Posted November 30, 2007 Author Posted November 30, 2007 P.S. Noticed that both you and Skii have got driver helmet avatars lately... you with de Angelis, and Skii with Bellof... could very well start a trend for the GB!! Yeah I noticed Skii's and thought I would do a similar thing. Elio was my favorite F1 driver still is really, better than all the limp wristed drivers in today's 'Max & Bernie show'. de Angelis was always in the shadow of Ayrton and too much the gentleman to go against the Team (Lotus) even when he thought he was treated differently. Eventually when he did leave for Brabham that year he died whilst testing at Ricard in a fire, a great loss to the sport. What caught my eye at first was his Simpson crash helmet, early eighties and Star Wars fever around what could look more like Darth Vader! I followed his progress from then really. Cheers Doc

Nice choice Doc talking of menacing helmets, Jochen Mass' bonce was a belter
Dr_Fester Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 talking of menacing helmets, Jochen Mass' bonce was a belter Yep your right Skii, menacing! I've got a framed print of Elio on the wall which shows the black & gold JPS Lotus and de Angelis sporting the Simpson crash helmet with dark visor, now thats cool ! I fully intend scratch building this Lotus 93t in 1/12 and have a donor Tamiya Renault kit for the Gordini engine. One of those projects on hold in definately...... Doc
Skii Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 No better looking F1 car than the JPS Lotus :thumbsup2:
seanrgb Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 No better looking F1 car than the JPS Lotus :thumbsup2: Cant find one for love nor money ..I'd love one of those
Mentalguru Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Got to agree with you guys regarding Bellof- super super quick, but a little wayward, and Elio- what a proper gent. The one episode that will always stick in my mind from the eighties F1 era, was Andrea De Cesaris going off in practice at Austria. basically only a murky video of it- but the driver following quoted- "He went past me liek a bat out of hell- drifted off on the grass, and just kept his foot hard in..." What a shunt- as no-one was hurt would love to see it again sometime
Dr_Fester Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 (edited) ......as no-one was hurt would love to see it again sometime Could it be the "off" found in this video at -1.42? Also to reiterate what a talent Elio de Angelis was, that not only one of the fastest drivers of his day but a concert pianist and composer, check out this video from the . If you are interested in the tragic events that unfolded at the test session in Paul Ricard this will explain. LINKCheers Doc Edited December 1, 2007 by Dr_Fester
