Hello, this is my first post here!

I'm a stranger who loves FAA aircrafts. Actually on the bench there is the CMR Buccaneer S2D, nothing glued yet, but I'm already planning the diorama with his hangar mate the Fg.1.

I was wondering if someone could be so kind to help me identifying this deck tractor ( I apologize, but I can't give credit for the photo, I found it on Flickr but I don't remember the owner's name)

Thank you in advance for any help, and sorry for my poor English.

Ciao!

I'm afraid I don't know much about the actual vehicle, however someone produced a 1/72 scale resin kit of this and I have got a couple stashed somewhere. I will see if I can find them and let you know more.

Hi, thank you for your reply, can't wait to know more...

Here is another flight deck tractor which was used on RN carriers. This one is on display at the FAA Museum at Yeovilton, UK.

Found Evalman's post on another thread

can't find any deck tractors on their website

The tractor shown is the Douglas Mk.2 deck tug.

The current tractor is slightly revised.

The Aviation Workshops kits are already with the pattern makers and the Mk.2 is due for release at Telford this year in both scales.

It is shown on the web site under Resin and support sets.

I found some of these vehicles at RNAS Culdrose Air Day a couple of weeks ago. They are used by the Royal Navy School of Flight Deck Operations on the 'Dummy Deck' where students learn to 'handle' aircraft and helicopters on the confined space of a Carrier. I think this type has been around for many years and I seem to remember reading that they were powered by the same engine as the Routemaster Bus; they certainly sound very similar.

Hi Dino,

not your scale but I decided to scratchbuild a deck tractor in 1/144 similar to the one in your photo.
