DinoC Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Hello, this is my first post here! I'm a stranger who loves FAA aircrafts. Actually on the bench there is the CMR Buccaneer S2D, nothing glued yet, but I'm already planning the diorama with his hangar mate the Fg.1. I was wondering if someone could be so kind to help me identifying this deck tractor ( I apologize, but I can't give credit for the photo, I found it on Flickr but I don't remember the owner's name) Thank you in advance for any help, and sorry for my poor English. Ciao! Dino
Evalman Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I'm afraid I don't know much about the actual vehicle, however someone produced a 1/72 scale resin kit of this and I have got a couple stashed somewhere. I will see if I can find them and let you know more.

Homebee Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Does this type of FAA deck tractor also exist in 1/48th? V.P.
bootneck Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Here is another flight deck tractor which was used on RN carriers. This one is on display at the FAA Museum at Yeovilton, UK.
AnonymousFO98 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 That is excellent thanks Bootneck any news on the 1/72 kit please? or the 1/48?
AnonymousFO98 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) I have just looked at the Aviation Workshop site and they have a Royal Navy Douglas Deck Tractor shown for release during 2010 (both 72 and 48 scale. The product code is SS-7205 for the 72 scale version. Found Evalman's post on another thread can't find any deck tractors on their website Edited May 21, 2010 by walrus
aw-boss man Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Found Evalman's post on another threadcan't find any deck tractors on their website The tractor shown is the Douglas Mk.2 deck tug. The current tractor is slightly revised. The Aviation Workshops kits are already with the pattern makers and the Mk.2 is due for release at Telford this year in both scales. It is shown on the web site under Resin and support sets. Regards Gary
Obi-Jiff Kenobi Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Woo-hoo! I will be getting one or two of those. Fabulous news. Obi-Jiff
AnonymousFO98 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) Thanks Gary Assume that the details have not been added to the catalogue yet. That is where I was getting confused- I thought they were already posted. Resin and support sets are still only showing the crew sets Edited May 26, 2010 by walrus
Evalman Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I found some of these vehicles at RNAS Culdrose Air Day a couple of weeks ago. They are used by the Royal Navy School of Flight Deck Operations on the 'Dummy Deck' where students learn to 'handle' aircraft and helicopters on the confined space of a Carrier. I think this type has been around for many years and I seem to remember reading that they were powered by the same engine as the Routemaster Bus; they certainly sound very similar.
bootneck Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Hi Dino, not your scale but I decided to scratchbuild a deck tractor in 1/144 similar to the one in your photo. Mike
