Sgt.Squarehead Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 (edited) Here is my first proposed victim: [image Deleted] An Italeri 1/72 Churchill Mk.III bashed into an AVRE Mk.IV with a simple Modelltrans conversion set. Sgt.Squarehead Posted February 7, 2009 Author Posted February 7, 2009 (edited) I'm underway with my AVRE and things are not proceeding 100% smoothly.....The cleanup of the Modelltrans resin turret has had precisely the opposite effect: [image Deleted] A very light sanding revealed a plethora of small blows just beneath the surface. While these are easy enough to clean up, it's a bit of a pain and I'm now dreading something similar occuring on one of the finer detail parts. There were also a few minor drags on some of the details and a fairly ugly seam.....Cleaning these up is proving to be a chore. The Italeri repop of the old ESCI Churchill is exactly as you would expect.....Solid, if a little unspectacular by modern standards.....One thing you have to give ESCI is that they made the Churchill's complex running gear very easy to build. AnonymousDFB1 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Good start Sarge, hope the rest of the resin is okay!
daz greenwood Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Looking good Sgt. Shame about the resin. And i like the Esci/Italeri Churchill Mk III, i must get another to do a Russian one.
Sgt.Squarehead Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) My AVRE is slowly taking shape: [image Deleted] The basic kit build is largely complete.....I now have to undercoat the tracks within the sponsons before proceeding with the final stages of the build. daz greenwood Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Liking that it looks like a Churchill oh! yes.
Stebos Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Looking very nicely detailed for the scale that is. Always liked the look of these, a very tanky-tank!
Sgt.Squarehead Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 Cheers guys.....I'm taking this one rather steadily. All the best Sgt.S
AndyL Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Great work so far Sarge. Nice to have one of these in the GB.
Sgt.Squarehead Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 My modeling room is almost ready, so I may just get this completed in time for the deadline.....Fingers and just about everything else crossed! For what it's worth, all the best Andy S.
Sgt.Squarehead Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Man are events ever conspiring against me! However I'm persevering and all being well should have piccies to prove it shortly. All the best Andy S. PS - Could anybody help me out with tiny white decals to spell out the name 'Hazel' please?
AnonymousDFB1 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I know the feeling Andy, sorry can't help you with the decals
Sgt.Squarehead Posted June 21, 2009 Author Posted June 21, 2009 (edited) Well it's almost done.....If the real ones had been this late, D-Day would have turned into another Dieppe. For what it's worth, all the best Andy S. Edited June 22, 2009 by Sgt.Squarehead
Sgt.Squarehead Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 (edited) Well.....I finally got some pictures: It's been a very long and convoluted process getting these, hopefully more pics will follow soon.....I vowed that I wouldn't post here until I actually had something to show! All the (very belated) best Andy S. Edited May 14, 2010 by Sgt.Squarehead
Guest snipersmudge Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Superb Andy, love the colour and weathering top work on such a small scale model
Sgt.Squarehead Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Cheers guys.....This one was my first finish with my new airbrush setup, there have been a few others since this one was done. Hopefully I'll have pictures of some more of them soon (especially certain T-34s). All the best Andy S.
