  1. I might be splitting hairs but matching the colour of this car to the Gulf blue isn't quite right, this is a MK2 and ran a year before Gulf became involved in the GT40 program. This car was one of the Shelby cars and a lot of the Mk2 entries had different colour flares on the front bodywork for ID purposes - it was probably chance this car matched the pale blue with an orange flare, so closely mimicking Gulf colours.
  2. Have you considered using white metal legs and wheels so the scale parts are the conductors themselves? edit: SAC do a one piece metal leg for the Airfix kit
  3. 72's ......... Yes please!
  4. Is the bracket by the commanders cupola correct? It should form one end of a rack to carry the dismantled aerial sections so should be in line with the other end and the 4 tie down loops on the counterweight extension. In plan view it should form a fragmented rectangle that lies diagaonally across the counterweight.
  5. History could have told a very different story had he not been suffering, at least his legacy has helped and continues to help many others.
  6. Another 78 fan here so will be watching this one, especially as you're building Gunnar's car, here are my 43rd versions by Spark - are you going red or black?
  7. Love this, I got the Lego version as a present .......... now I'm looking for one of these!
  8. Character forming I think they call it! Good that you got it off sooner rather than later and are using a distraction, things won't look half as bad when you come back to it. I've never had problems with the paint in question so not sure what gets it off, have you tried oven cleaner or brake fluid?
  9. Hey Clive, Glad it's just life and summer getting in the way and it's not been banished to it's box Cheers, Tony
  10. That 's looking lovely, glad I could be of some help Do keep the pics coming! The Accurate Armour kit isn't quite as nice but for a long time was the only game in town, it's advantage was it's catch all parts list meaning you can build a Ferret from any era. It does suffer in the pedal area and only having one hatch open - running Ferrets always seem to have all 3 driver hatches open for visibility. ps. Your thread is making me look at my Cromwell mk1 kit with an itchy tool kit
  11. Flash, air bubbles and the occasional bit of mould slip are inevitable in resin kits by the nature of the moulding process. The better manufacturers realise this and will usually replace the bits that slip through the net if they are beyond help. Building the kits themselves will always be a bit more labour intensive than an injection moulded kit with repeated dry runs and careful planning.
  12. Hot, if not boiling water should straighten out the hatch, resin parts usually warp once they've left the mould, making them warm allows them to resume the shape they should be. As for building it'll be pretty much like working with plastic except for glues, use cyano or two part epoxy. Removing parts from the casting blocks or runners will probably need a razor saw as using knives or cutters can do more damage than good - and remember, always wear a mask for sawing or sanding resin, the dust is nasty stuff! I love Ferrets, have built an Accurate Armour one, have a Cromwell one on the shelf and in the distant past had a Dartmoor one ....... Any questions just ask as I'll be keeping an eye on your build!
  13. Looking good so far but you need to rotate that tow bar round by 90 degrees, it's a leaf spring to offer a degree of cushion effect.
  14. The number 1 car being driven by Emerson is a 72E with deformable structure bodywork and a very different shape to your Tamiya kit which is a 72D - stick with Firestones.
