Wessex UH5 Italeri 1/48

Recommended Posts

Welcome back Laurie.

I do wish you a speedy recovery post op.

I shall enjoy watching this one, the crew will definitely add to the diorama.

I recognise the Italeri kit and decals but not the photo etch bits.....which set is that?

Thank you very much. Still recovering but getting back into this scene is a tonic.

This is part of the Falklands Diormama. 16 models so far another perhaps 4 to go.

Then 1/72 hung from the ceiling of the Widawake Falkands types.

Slow slow but speeding up.  Not only the body after an operation

it affects the brain.

Nuff of that. Progress at last & enjoying it.

Welcome back Laurie, hope your recovery is swift.

The Italeri Wessex kit, falls far short of the real thing as Hendie and I will attest. The cockpit seat, really need a good dose of rework but as you have a crew in place, no need to worry.

If you go to either of our builds, you'll find lots of pointes as to 'guilding the lily'.

Thanks Colin. Lesson do not wack your inside shin on corner of computer tower.

Blew up to size of an 1/48 Wessex HAS 3. Skin could not contain. Skin, size of two

hand has to regrow. 6 months so far 25% to go. Left out some parts 🤣

Sad tale while in hospital had flu & pneumonia. Plus wife in hospital next floor up

with the same problems.

Had the Eduard PE seats. But did not fit into cockpit.

Having spent 50 years as an architect I do like to use my imagination. So stop

short of looking at others work while I am building mine. Otherwise I fear I will

stop using my imagination.

I use the many pictures as possible of the real thing.

Just to say i do watch other in their builds. But not the one I am working on.

Hi Laurie, is wrecking you shin, the same as using your little  toe to find the coffee table in the dark?

Enjoy your build, if you have a look at my Grog in the desert build, you can get an idea of how much detail in missing from the basic kit. I'm biased, I used to work on the Wessex 5. The box art designation is also incorrect, it should be HU.

I am sure Colin that if we worried about a kit not being exact we would never ever build anything,

It is the pleasure of building I find plus the use of your artistic imagination.

apologies missed it Colin

No unless it blows up larger than a cricket ball, skin can not hold the pressure (imagination needed ) hematoma formed, operation length of two hands to stitch up. Then skin dies size of 1.5 hands, since Christmas 75% of skin regrown.

Good bit "pretty nurses" come twice a week to replace the dressing. 🤗

Phew forgot to include the photos. Wound not nurse.

Wow Laurie, it sounds like you've been through the ringer.

Very nice to see that your modelling is continuing. Nice progress with the Wessex.
