Spitfires Forever
Greetings I have a question regarding the particular red crossed box airframe stencil on the upper wing over the radiator/oil cooler on the Mosquito. Was this stencil sprayed on to all Mossies or were their exceptions? Many after market decal sheets do not contain these stencils even though their illustrations show this feature. Any ideas or alternatives regarding this subject? CheersĀ
Admiral Puff
Its purpose was to discourage people from stepping on the radiators, so I'd imagine it was a standard fitting. The aftermarket sheets probably assume that the modeller will use what comes on the kit sheet - two items less to print, thus reducing cost. Crimea River
Not so much stepping on the radiators but rather the flimsy sheet metal panels that cover them. I concur that most Mosquitoes probably sported these. The excellent Aviaeology decal sets include at least two versions of these stencils
