Big Dave S Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 Another go at one of these, with the aim of doing a 3 figure vignette during spring/summer. It's the guy on the far right... so to speak. 4
Stef N. Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 A simple vignette or will you go for a tougher, trenches and all, type affair? Good luck in your build whatever you choose.👍 1

Good luck in your build whatever you choose.👍 Hi Stef (Dropping in from Twitter?) Small, out of necessity and preference. A barbed wire-strewn patch of no man's land with as many accessories as I can find. Cheers DS 2
Big Dave S Posted April 3, 2022 Author Posted April 3, 2022 Progress shot. Pencil rubber turned out to be the perfect sized prop. 2

Later on I saw it on here and now I know. 👍 It looks rather interesting so I will keep an eye on your progress. 2

Big Dave S Posted April 3, 2022 Author Posted April 3, 2022 A nice running pose. ICM Models are very good. So nice to have a CHOICE of WW1 figures. I hope the staff of this company are okay. And I'll stop there in case I stray into "politics". 3
Big Dave S Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 (edited) Now, I've had a tutorial, with photos, on Twitter about how I've arranged the straps incorrectly here. Two points: 1. It comes down to what will fit where, since I'm dealing with hard plastic rather than soft fabrics. So the finished article has to look something like plausible. And stuff has to fit somewhere. 2. I don't really care if 'things are in the wrong place.' If it looks okay, that's okay. That said, I've made a note and can make a more accurate job of the remaining two figures in this project. Assuming I remember... DS Edited April 4, 2022 by Big Dave S 2
Big Dave S Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 So long as the rifle fits into the hands, after painting, that's construction done for the time being. 3
Big Dave S Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 (edited) The view from the rear. A bit of filler to add around the bum (not visible here). Edited April 4, 2022 by Big Dave S 5
Big Dave S Posted April 5, 2022 Author Posted April 5, 2022 (edited) Had to attach the rifle. A bit awkward fitting it into the hands, so it's in place early to avoid damaging paintwork. Now attaching the sling. Not allowed to swear on here. Rest assured, there's plenty of that going on whilst this stage is progressing. Edited April 5, 2022 by Big Dave S 3
Big Dave S Posted April 6, 2022 Author Posted April 6, 2022 Colours time! Too much green in the jacket, which serves me right for painting in artificial light. Dark earth has turned to cottage cheese during the winter. That's the downside of enamels. Miles to go before I sleep. 2
Big Dave S Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 No time to upload photos today, but basic uniform colours on now. Maybe too dark, but highlights should help there. So nice to be back on home ground
Big Dave S Posted April 11, 2022 Author Posted April 11, 2022 Loads to do. Base colours going on. I hope to have this phase completed at the weekend so shading can start. 4
Big Dave S Posted April 12, 2022 Author Posted April 12, 2022 Still running... ...Chased by the music 3
Stef N. Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 Who is the bassist. It reminds me of Kim Deal but I don't think it is Kim Deal.🤔 1

Big Dave S Posted April 17, 2022 Author Posted April 17, 2022 Shading underway. Although it's hard to tell from this hurried snap. Jacket shading tone no1 done. 2
Big Dave S Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 Can't get decent photos on this phone. Basic shading done on jacket and trousers. 3
Big Dave S Posted July 22, 2022 Author Posted July 22, 2022 Progress snaps. The private is finished. The NCO still WIP. After these there's one more to go 😐 and the scenic base. 7
Big Dave S Posted September 23, 2022 Author Posted September 23, 2022 Figure no3 well underway. I will post photos of the vignette when completed. 1
Peter2 Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 Nice results. "The Germans wore grey, you wore blue” (Casablanca, 1942). As the mens' uniforms are a similar grey, could that colourful geometric camouflage shown on the box art helmet add more variety to one of the figures? 1
