Pax_1601
Hi everyone, my name is Davide, I'm a 28 years old aerospace engineer from Italy. I've started building scale models 2 years ago and i'm currently building my 12th kit, so I am definitely a newbie. My father is a RC model plane builder and he transmitted the passion to me. I've also started by building RC planes, but after moving out my small flat did not allow for the large surfaces required for balsa wood builds, so I gave plastic scale models a try, and I was hooked from the beginning! For the time being, I've only built aircraft models, but I would definitely like to try other types of models too! I'm here to learn and ask questions, and maybe post some of my work, if I am not too ashamed of it Cheers, and "buon vento" (fair winds)! ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday Davide, welcome aboard. I'm into 1/600 scale model ships myself, but did a 1/72 Northrop P-61 Black Widow a little while back. Never be ashamed of your work. There will always be some models better than yours, and yours will be better than others. Rule No.1 - build to your own standard and enjoy it. Rule No.2 - refer to rule no. 1 🙂 Regards, Jeff.
Big Dave S
Hi Davide! Good to "meet" you. I'm also new here. What kind of aircraft have you built? I understand what you mean about a lack of space. Same situation here. Regards Dave

Big Dave S
Nice kits! And an interesting variety. Just finished Italeri's F100 here, too. I really enjoyed it. Did you go for the USAF or Armee de l'Air option?

I also decided to rivet along every single panel line and add some missing onea, sadly it did not turn out very visible in the end.

Big Dave S
It's interesting to look at a kit so familiar right now and see how someone else has presented it.

How do you make panel lines visible? It's a challenging part of painting
Pax_1601
The method I have found to be the best for me is to coat the painted model with clear gloss acrylic Tamiya paint, fill the lines with Tamiya panel line accent colour (black in this case), wait for it to dry and then remove the excess with a cotton swab slightly moistened by white spirit (not X-22 or lacquer thinner as these will eat the paint). This method is extremely effective and simple, and the paint will not be ruined in the slightest.
