P.o Prune
Hi... I'm back... Been away for far too long... :-( I understand that the Spitfire Mk.II was equipped with either a T.R 9D, or a T.R. 113 Wireless. Does anyone know which one was the most common, and although I have managed to get my little greedy hands on a beautiful picture of the T.R. 9D, I would be eternally grateful if any of you guys out there could supply me with a picture of the T.R. 113 Thanks in advance. alt-92
At a guess, I'd say you would have more luck looking for TR.1133 or TR.1143 info?
P.o Prune
No wonder I couldn't find a picture. Thanks a million... Now I just need to find out which was the most used one.
ClaudioN
AFAIK, depends on the period and place. Around mid-1940 Fighter Command was transitioning to the TR.1133 VHF radio that, reportedly, equipped all front-line aircraft by 1941. Overseas the TR.9D HF radio remained in use much longer, possibly because of the (theoretically, at least) longer range of HF radio. An improved HF radio replacement for TR.9D was TR.1196

ClaudioN
I'd think TR.9D more likely, IMHO. If you have some photographic evidence you are working from, then TR.9D = aerial wire from antenna mast to rudder; TR.1133 = no aerial wire
P.o Prune
Thanks. 👍 Then it's going to be the TR.9D
