Any new aircraft kit?
-
The JASDF F-15J/DJ remain hugely popular on the Japan market.

You are right. Caracal ha sheet for the "Next Generation Eagles" bunt only in 1:48 scale. I don't think any other decals printer has a product related to the "next gen Eagles" in 1:72.

1/72 - Grumman F-14D Tomcat by Great Wall Hobby

A new, limited edition, F-14B of the VF-101 (and UKR SU-27UB in digital camo)? source: GWH Facebook Official Page -
I hope to see the F-14A+/B to cover the entire Tomcat family.

It seems a good kit, even without the extra bits for the EX version.

Hi Ron, thank you for your feedback. Yes, it matches what I have found (or better, not have found): There isn't any reference to the Bullpup tested, deployed or used by the Marines Phantoms. So, it is almost certain that the Bullpup wasn't in their inventory.

It is even my idea, as I don't remember to ever have seen a F-4B/J/N armed with a AGM-12 (except for the Nichimo Phantom in 1/300 scale, that I have always thought as inaccurate); I even ignored that the US Navy F-4J were wired to use the Bullpup. Only after readind the TGYC, I'm puzzled if the Phantom/Bullpup is feasible.

Hi everybody, I have a doubt concerning the use of the AGM-12 Bullpup and the US Marines Corps Phantom. From what I know, the US Navy F-4J "was equipped with the AN/AJB bombing system which gave better ground attack capability and allowed the use of the Bullpup ASM (The Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club - Osprey 2021)." Thus, I can deduce that the earlier F-4B can't use the AGM-12 Bullpup; the question is if the rebuilt F-4N were wired to carry the AGM-12 and if the US Marines Corps ever carry this weapon before it was phased out in the late '70s. The idea is to build a US Marines F-4N armed with the AGM-12C, if it's realistic.

It makes sense; If Revell want to supersede the Academy/GWH/Hasegawa kits, they must have the EX/SG/QA/SA on the market before the other companies. Anyway, it's still unconfirmed if their new kit will include the parts for the "Next Generation Eagles"

Hi Ian, Mostly I play using the Air Superiority/The Speed of Heat rule set, adapted to play with miniatures and on very large hexagonal maps, In the end we play using a table of the same dimension of a typical "Warhammer" tabletop game, even if the dimensions an change with the scenarios. Now, we are playing a "Cold War turned Hot" campaign settled in 1978. The main reason is that the air combat is much more fun before the introduction of the all-aspect air-to-air missile (and less deadly).

Probably Revell sees a niche in the market for the "last generation" F-15E derivatives. Actually,, the F-15EX/QA/SA/SQ are not covered by any companies in 1/48 and 1/72 scale, except to use the resin conversion kits produced by BAM (but their cost is over the model to convert), and the Hasegawa F-15SG is sold out and discontinued. So, they should have a follow-on kit covering the Eagle "last generation," to place on the market in few months later the release of the F-15E new kit.

Hi mates, After many years modelling and painting wargames miniatures I'm back to my first love: modelling military jet aircraft, something that I'm not doing anymore from more than... 25 years! As I have painted and modelled over 100+ aircraft in 1/288 -1/300 scale for playing 3D wargames, in the last two years, I like the idea to build, model and paint scale aircraft for the pure joy to do it. Cheers, Federico
