  1. @philp, @Foxbat - photos should be fixed now. Seems the error was browser config specific which is why it worked for some and not others. Here it is, wheels, prop & nav lights on! More photos coming shortly. This was a really fun build, thank you for following. The trickiest bit was probably masking the curves and airplane for the anti glare patch. Looking forward to doing the other 3 in the box - there are some civilian spitfires and the Israeli Black Spit I'd love to do if I can find decals... \
  2. Fantastic choice! Can't go wrong with a DC-3. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out!
  3. More clocks incoming! Thank you for the suggestion, I'll have to check it out. Their injection molding engineering is amazing - @Beggsy completed their 1/72 Kunkadlo. Despite having many spindy and intricate pieces, the fit was perfect - I heard all about it! This is where I got to tonight, 11 hours in - 1.30am. Aaaaalmost done, but I think I'll let the landing gear cure overnight. It's been a fun build!
  4. So I put everything in a bag.... And after enough shaking.... And wow, that took a lot of shaking! I might do the rest the usual way. The kit went together pretty well with no filling required, - however there were a few surprise bits of flash to remove that initially prevented a magic snap together model. Then the canopy dropped in and it was ready for paint. It's a remarkably clear canopy, so it's a pity Eduard didn't include a rudimentary cockpit tub. Owl is supervising this evening's efforts. DInner time. Chipotle black bean tacos with pico de gallo. Then the airbrush came out. The aluminium paint is fiddly and kept clogging the airbrush up, but it worked out well in the end!
  5. Another blitzbuild, another tiny model. I've always wanted to build a Spitfire, and I've heard so much about the quality of Eduard kits. Starting later than @Beggsy, as apparently all I need to do is "put all the parts in a bag, shake it and a seamless model falls out!" While I usually prefer civilian models, this Czech Spitfire is particularly smartly finished, it's a Spitfire and it's an Eduard kit.
  6. I drilled holes in the fuse/wing/gear before assembly. Then easyline and super glue. It was my first time using easyline and it definitely lived up to the name. *lots* of stretch, very little force and sticks really well with superglue. It was a well moulded kit, everything but the horizontal tail had locating features. I only needed a tiny bit of filler at the aft wing root join. There was a little bit of a step between the fuselage halves at the rudder but my extra thin spill melted that away.
  7. Thanks all! The gallery post is up now. Wow that's tiny! And a fascinating aircraft I hadn't heard of. If only it was, and the coffee & muffin were huge. I could do with them today after that late night. Emily
  8. 1/144 Dora Wings Gee Bee R2, completed in a single 24 hour period. The paper racing pylon below is from Fiddlers Green Paper models (http://www.fiddlersgreen.net/models/aircraft/GeeBee-Racer.html). Blue background care of @Beggsy's spray booth.
  9. This looks like it'll be great, good luck with it!
  10. Thanks for all the comments Oh they both gave me trouble all night. The left one had to be super glued back on twice more. Same for the left landing gear. Then right at the end the clear red for the right nav light flooded the wing tip. A little thinner and some white that luckily brushed on just right was able to save that one. Will do, thank you! Time to sleep, good luck and have fun with all of your builds
  11. Masked and painted! Unmasked.... not pictured is both of the landing gears coming off as I tried to remove tape. This was a recurring theme.
  12. Disaster struck just before lunch! I forgot to dab the excess Tamiya Extra thin off the brush and it flooded the rudder and right horizontal stabiliser. The stab then stuck to the box and was covered in paper. A new one was fabricated from .020 styrene sheet. Cutting mat scale for scale? Ready for putty and paint! Not pictured - repeatedly sanding, rescribing and reattaching that RH stab...
  13. An opportunity to play with macro mode on the camera! The engine was painted dark grey, given a black wash and then dry brushed. Thanks to Beggsy for the suggestion! Then more assembly and lunch for scale. A guest appearance by a Gnat.
  14. Some painting complete. There's not much to the interior - and very little that would be visible once that miniscule canopy is in place. Can you find it? This was taken shortly after a skirmish with the carpet monster. Morning tea for scale.
  15. I've mostly made 1/144, and when we saw this Gee Bee...I had to try it. It's so ridiculously small... Tamiya paint for scale.
  16. Day 2... Started late, Sunday 7.24pm. I started masking for a few minutes before remembering to take this picture. Dinner, and more masking. Rainbow trout with stir fry veg & noodles. The budgies enjoyed pellets and seed. \ And after masking, the canvas section was sprayed a subtle different aluminium dope colour. Then the rest of the details, decals, canopy, exhaust, leading edge antennta... And that's it - done! Quarter past midnight - time to sleep! Happy blitz building!
  17. Thanks 😄 Tasty dinner, chicken & chipotle mayo rolls (edit: that's @Beggsy's on the right...) Then it was back into it... Fitted, sanded and shaped the tropical air filter This was followed by painting, but it definitely didn't go to plan. It has been anything but a great little kit . The airbrush played up, leading to some repairs that then caused paint peeling. In the end I took all but the empennage paint off and painted it again! That's it for today, time to get some sleep before I pickup the second 12hr late tomorrow.
  18. And the start photo! 2.30pm - I had ground school at the gliding club this morning. I'm building this in the aluminium finish that was the final livery of A60-1 when it lived at the RAAF base in Point Cook. Only a stones throw from here! And shortly after starting... it was lunch time. Tuna/Olive/Egg baguette from the french bakery @Beggsy mentioned. And this is where I am up to now. I'm very sorry I forgot to take pictures of the copious amounts of chocolate that has been consumed. Some research in the background, trying to plan out paint. Little tiny scratch built tropical filter. Painting and masking underway. @Beggsy noted how detailed the fuselage is, yet the wings have little - so I have etched some panel lines (with some help...). Dinner time...

  20. Hello! New here, hi! I've had this kit sitting around for a while. With my partner Beggsy also doing a build - this weekend seemed like a great opportunity to try and build it. The plan is to build this kit as RAAF Hurricane A60-1/V7476, the one and only Australian based/operated Hurricane.
