  1. Nice work. I recall this aircraft was painted in 2007 to commemorate the 20 years anniversary of ANA's launching of direct flights between Japan and China. It was retired in 2014. Many other airlines also have panda liveries such as FedEx, Air China, Sichuan Airlines and they all look very cute. Cheers, Chris
  2. Well done, Alex! I'm not even aware that SA has operated 737-100. Despite the current livery seems prettier than the original, this classics built is a legendary one. Cheers, Chris
  3. Well done, Dave. It's nice to see another Chinese airliner built in the forum. The special livery looks colourful on an A350. In fact, China has also hosted an International Horticultural Exhibition 20 years ago in the City of Kunming. Even more surprising, China Yunnan Airlines back then painted back one of their Boeing 767 to promote the event. You can find its model built posted by me through this link: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235045214-1144-zvezda-boeing-767-300/&tab=comments#comment-3168823 Cheers, Chris
  4. Hi Ian. What an excellent job! Your work on this A345 and the B772 earlier both involved challenging conversion work yet they turned out such well integrated like a single-piece work. I am also considering a China Eastern A346 and China Southern B772 on my todo wishlist. May I ask how did you manage to minimize any visible discrepancies when connecting the fuselage/tube segments? Chris
  5. Thanks for all the greetings and feedbacks. Here's a few new pics:
  6. As a huge fan of Asian airliners of the 90s, China Yunnan’s 763 has been at the top of my list for favourite builds for many reasons. Its green-golden chatline, meticulously designed Peacock logo and the special livery for an Expo before the dawn of the new Millennium. When visiting Yunnan province in 2009, its beautiful landscape and diverse culture have also made a profound impression in my mind. This build was also in dedication to my favourite destination I ever traveled in China, the Yunnan province. A brief history of the aircraft: Delivered in 1996, B-2569 was the second 767 for China Yunnan Airlines. The livery was made in commemorating of the 1999 International Horticultural Exposition held in Kunming, Yunnan, China. The mascot was an anthropomorphic monkey named “Ling Ling”, painted near the back of the aircraft. After the merging of China Yunnan with China Eastern, the aircraft entered the China Eastern fleet and served until 2011. China Yunnan was one of the few airlines with its Boeing 767 fleet equipped with the RB211 engines. Other first-hand operators include British Airways and Qantas. The building experience was, in general, a good one. Zvezda’s 763 has a smooth finish with detailed features. Modifications were made to replace the CF6 engines with RB211 from Braz Models. The original decal was from Flying Colours but additional decals were custom designed and laser printed to include the logos for the special livery. Here are a few pics: Thanks for viewing and hope you enjoy it! Feedbacks are welcomed. Cheers, Chris
  7. Thanks for your welcoming message and excellent remark. I have used Tamiya acrylic spray paints before and they worked pretty well. I guess the main reason for the unsmooth finish was because I had only one spary can that was used till near empty when the paint came out in uneven splashes instead of even layers. Appreciate your advice and will consider them next time!
  8. Thanks for your advice. I'll consider a smoothing finish next time following your tips!
  9. New to the forum and excited to post here for the very first time. This is one of the models in a series of Chinese airlines I have planned to build since early this year. The kit was a 1/144 Revell Airbus A310. The corogard decal was from Liveries Unlimited while the airline decal was custom made. A brief history of the aircraft: Delivered in 1985, B-2302 was the second Airbus A310 purchased by CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China). When China Northwest Airlines was formed in 1989, this aircraft was transferred to CAAC Northwest Branch and repainted with the CNW blue-red cheatline and logos. After the merging of China Northwest with China Eastern in 2002, the aircraft entered the China Eastern fleet and served until 2007. Headquartered in Xi’an, China Northwest Airlines was one of the six backbone airlines in the 1990s in Mainland China. Others being Air China, China Northern, China Eastern, China Southern, and China Southwest. Only three of the airlines are still in operation today. The logo of CNW was an inspiration from the Flying Asparas in the Frescoes of Mogao Caves in northwest China as well as the shape of the globe. It has embedded in the memories of many old generation Chinese people. The Revell Airbus A310 kit (Lufthansa) came in its original package of 1984. The number of pieces were kept to its minimum and easily assembled. Modifications made include: Replacing the CF6 engines from Revell kit with PW4000 from Brazil Models. Custom designed and printed decal. Shortcomings: Weathering was not considered when building this model. Application of the Testors gloss enamel paint was not as smooth as anticipated. Here are a few pics: Thanks for viewing and providing your feedback. Cheers, Chris
