  1. Well...I didn't hate them but just way too much CGI and Hayden Christiansen just cannot act. Found them childish too. Good news is JJ is having sets and models built, so not all CGI.
  2. Yes I remember doing the same thing, only issue is to watch for heat build up so it doesn't melt them too big. Daft this is the fibre optic version never looked right, a tiny spot of light in the a long window?! I'm doing a Voyager now, same thing but less windows and they are quite a lot bigger. Wondering if I can find a suitable micro file to keep them square (they are on that one)
  3. Astonishing. I have been absent from this type of modeling for ages and didn't know this existed. I have worked with resin but nothing on that scale...it still looks like it's made of white chocolate! It's obviously in scale but didn't realise the blockade runner was so small in comparison. I think I have found one on Ebay, but it's too pricey and in the US so would be in bits by the time it got here. There even seems to be a mini Falcon available you can stick on the back of the tower (to float away with the rest of the garbage lol) Incredible detail. Just think how big a Super Star Destroyer would be in the same scale! (was never so keen on the shape of those myself) I know it would be hell but are you fibre-opticing it?
  4. Hi all, I am new and I know this topic is old. But regarding this I know the above is generally said vinyl primed correctly (auto primer) will mean no issues drying. I used to work for a bloke who sold garage kits and used to do the now hard to Find Screamin' and Horizon and others. I never found one that caused a problem with drying.
  5. Yes drilling out windows what fun. But I must add....given how rare and expensive the clear one is, and actually how long it would take to mask them anyway....is it really less work?!
  6. As much as I like this, even at my age I still don't understand it. I get the "film of 2 halves" with the mad computer...but the monkeys, the "slab", the old bloke in the bed and the space baby...nope!
  7. This has actually sparked my interest. Given how bad the 3 prequels were I actually have high hopes for this. Being JJ is good too, I didn't like the new Trek at first but now I do....mmmmm
  8. Very nice. I think this part work is one of the best they have made, and think that £950ish is ok for quality and size....but waiting 2 years...nooooooooooooooooooooo!
  9. Cheers Mr Blue. What you see is about 1 years solid work, but that's pretty much all evenings and weekends. Ta about the figures, that's me and where I started with D & D and Warhammer though these are a bit smaller...I find I need off the peg reading glasses for them now! "unremarkable location and buildings very hum drum" - that's exactly what we wanted, for me too many of them (layouts) are choccy box, romantic loveliness so ta again.
  10. Hi All, new here. My main love is sci-fi but joined forces with a train loon and we made this. It's been exhibited once (hence the video link at the bottom). I can build kits but the other guy is a master scratch builder so 99% of what you see is just that, but I paint it all. Thats it, any questions please ask though I probably won't know, but I can find out. Youtube (easiest way to see it, 1st layout on the reel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrXppxfLdSg
