  1. Hi guys, I'm desperately trying to find a few kits for my grandad for Christmas, all relating to the vehicles he drove while in the army from the 50's to the 70's. Now hes pretty guarded on alot of details but i know a few of the names of the ones he drove and wondered if anyone here knows of any plastic kits that would be close, ive not had much luck at all so far. AEC Militant mk1-mk2 10ton knocker Saracen Alvis Stalwart Landrovers - hes vague with this one as they used alot of different variations so anything from that period would be ideal Bedford RL 50's Some of these i can find, such as the bedford, but its in WW2 guise and not sure if its applicable to what he drove, the others im struggling with. AEC Militant for example, i can find loads of Matadors but apparantly they are not the same truck and he wasnt happy with that suggestion Saracens cant seem to find, same with the stalwart. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. I didnt see anything in the OP that stated it was for post war period, just that it was within the WW2 period.
  3. FW-190 for me too, more than likely the Dora's (long nose versions)
  4. Holy.....well there isnt anything that can be said - thats some serious impressive skill right there, its going to look awesome when complete, simply stunning on another level.
  5. Hi guys, probably already been discussed and have found some info on this, but what is the correct colour to use for painting the Merlin thats based in the UK. Airfix are saying Humbrol 86 but as i dont use them im searching for a close match to this. Found a couple of reports of Revell 68 Dark Green working, lone behold i dont have it in my collection hehe. What i have in my collection at present are as follows Tamiya XF-81 RAF Green 2 (could be a good one?) XF-67 Nato Green XF-58 Olive Green. Revell 361 39 which is dark green but not the 363 68 and lastly Revell 363 61 Im going insane here, looking at colour for the last 5 hours ive gone colour blind and cant tell the difference now lol.
  6. That's a pretty sweet model right there, guess ill go the die cast route on this one, should be quicker on the plus side lol, cheers guys .
  7. Cheers guys, kinda sucks there isn't a reasonable priced plastic kit around, looks like I'm either gonna have to strip and repaint a die cast one to what she wants or persuade her into wanting an R8.
  8. Hey guys, ive recently got a request from my girlfriend asking me if i can make her an Audi TT kit, i jumped at the chance and said yes, But as ive looked around i can't find any plastic kits of it, plenty of R8s but she doesnt want one of those, i dont suppose any of you guys know where i could possibly try and find one, either the old shape TT or the new shape, was hoping to have it made for christmas for her.
  9. Thanks again Lynx7, these will help massivley in getting colours right and typical high wear areas.
  10. Hey guys, need some colour advice before i go head first into my build, i dont use humbrol colours as i dont get along with them too well, so im stuck with Revell and Tamiya acrylics at the moment, has anyone worked out a colour conversion specfic to this kit yet? AH7 is the one im doing in the Army markings - Dont want to mess it up as the Lynx is one of my favourite helicopters second to the Merlin.
  11. Said it again once before, stunning, and i hope to read and look at some more progress in the coming weeks - Also cant wait to see what your going to do with the Skyraider.
  12. My god it just gets better, been a while since i checked in, and boy oh boy have you done some fantastic work truly impressive (im sure your tired of hearing that right lol) anyway keep it up, cant wait to see it all done and complete.
  13. That would be great Dave if you could when you can - Also what colours should i be using, ill be using Revell Colours for this, but none of my Dark greens are actually dark, they are still too green?
  14. Loving this, im about to start the same kit, and as you say despite its flaws in accuracy it actually comes out rather nice, Well done
  15. Ah i see, ill see what i can in regards to adding detail to it then, i wish id have done more research before picking up the kit shame really as Tamiya are usually pretty good when it comes to accuracy and details.
