Graham T Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Just been doing the rounds and found the following: Amazon I've got the Canberra book & it's a bit of a "curates egg". It contains a lot of info but as was pointed out to me by a former 617 squadron Canberra pilot, some of it is just wrong. In additon, the style of prose in some areas is almost as if it was written by someone for whom English is not a first language. Maybe that's a editing/proof reading issue.
Evalman Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I've got the Hunter book and can recommend it. Lots of interesting bits including an in depth account of the Tintagel Hunter Crash and some good coverage of TWU Hunters. Covers almost everything really.
thomasweir Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I have both books and found both to be interesting reads with McLellands book being the better of the two.
StephenMG Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I have the Hunter book and, in my particular case, it was a waste of 20 quid. I already have most of the previously published books on the Hunter and there is nothing in the McLelland book that hasn't previously been made available in books or on the web. So, for me, there was nothing new in this book. That said, if you haven't got any Hunter books at all then it'll probably be a good option. If you already have web access plus a handful of other Hunter books, e.g. Francis Mason's Biography of a Thoroughbred plus the Warpaint book (the scale plans in McLelland's book are just rehashed versions of the Warpaint ones with all the same mistakes reproduced) or, better still, the SAM Modeller's Datafile, then this book looks a little redundant in my view.
