Hi,

This is my build.

1/43rd 1956 FerrariD50.

Ferrari recorded five Grand Prix victories with this car in 1956, Colins won in Belgium and France and Fangio won in Argentina, Britain and Germany to secure the Championship.

This is a curbside kit, plenty of race options, most of them are red cars, still not sure which I'm going to do.

I picked this one up second hand, can't remember when or who from, but have been meaning to build it for a while.

A few resin pieces, a few white metal, a few chromed white metals, a few small etched sheets, a few turned aluminium pieces and some nice ready made wheels.

From first looks it's a simple kit, except for the rear suspension.

Renaissance aren't that good at showing what should go where in the instructions, so I'll check some of my reference books for that info.

Started to build the interior yesterday. Milton Keynes Club have a model display in MK Central library all month and we man the stand on Saturdays, so I took the kit along.

Progress photo follow shortly.

Ooh, lovely. That's a kit I've been meaning to pick up for ages, but never got round to it.

Personally, I'd build Fangio's British GP winner, but I have a thing for British GP winners. His Argentina winner would be good too - it's always nice when a driver wins at home, especially on the way to a world championship.

Incidentally, I've just dug out my copy of Hans Tanner's Ferrari, 6th edition, which may or may not have some pics of the rear suspension. I could have a look later, if it would help.

Any photos gratefully received, thanks.

I must admit this is a kit I always keep in stock, it's one that turns over well.

I was thinking about Fangio's first car from Monaco, he had a crash just after the start that damaged the side pod, then another 'bump' later on that damaged the nose and front wheel. The car looks nicely mashed. Then he took over Colins car to finish Second in the race.

I'll have a look tonight and see if I've got any piccies. Fangio's Monaco car would look great with all the dents - I've got plans to build Moss/Jenkinson's Mille Miglia Mercedes in similar condition.

Well, I had a look, but Ferrari didn't have anything useful. I'll dig out my copy of the Autocourse History of the Grand Prix Car and see what they've got.

Thanks for looking. I've found a few suspension & interior photos now.

I don't think I can come to terms with inflicting damage on the bodywork (could have worked well if it was a white metal casting!), so I guess it will be one of the other options.....

That's a shame, I've just found a great pic of Fangio's car from Monaco, with a huge dent in the side pannier!

I have found a rather useful pic of the rear suspension, with all the bodywork removed. I'll scan it sometime soon, it may be of use.

Bit of an update...

Have cleaned up and made the disk brakes.

And have painted the interior.

Body prined in grey, then painted with Vallejo Italian Red.

A nice dark mid 50's red..... these are a little to light and orange due to the flash.

Will tidy up the body and will gloss it tomorrow.

Nice progress. I'll scan and post the pic of the rear suspension soon, promise!

Have glossed the body, but that looks like the other photo.

Will be adding the details to the body and taking photos as I go along.

More in a day or so.
