Flankerman
I assume its the existing K-Class Soviet WWII sub - with new upperworks ? Great way to get more from the moulds (if it is). Ken

Ken That's right, a modification of the Soviet submarine K-Class. In 1952-1953 design efforts began on Project 628, an updated Soviet XIV series (K-class) submarine configured to conduct experimental launches of the 10XN Volna (wave) subsonic cruise missile. Flankerman
Both the US Navy JB-2/'Loon' and the Soviet 10XN Volna were copies of the German V-1 'Buzz Bomb' pulse-jet cruise missile. So the Project 628 and USS Cusk will make interesting companions - both wartime diesel boats converted to launch their respective copies of the V-1.
