  1. LOL, cheers Bertie, hopefully, these and other pieces spread around will fill out the RC village.
  2. Superb builds and a cracking job on the hangers. They really do tie in all the pieces and makes a cracking scene.
  3. Outstanding piece Paul, lovely set out diorama. Dioramas are not always a easy thing to master, too little it becomes boring, too much and it is overdone, also, the locations of objects placed are crucial to getting a great balanced look. You have achieved that, the water disguises a lot of pieces so it keeps the viewer engage as they seek out other bits, or something suddenly pops out. Nicely done and a fave for me, one to be very proud of.
  4. Another scenery piece for the 'village'. I made a flagpole out of a wooden conductors baton, the bollards are plastic stops from a bed and I drilled and glued some brass eyelets into them and shaped with my jewelers hammer, added some chain and then sanded the base. Some brass parts and other parts used. The union flag is upside down, I used a site that lets you have your countries flag as a watermark and then your image on top, the tank is our military vehicles symbol, didn't realise until after I had stuck it 😡. Measures around 10 inch high. Si.
  5. Here are some items I made to go with stable building and horses for the canal section. A very over engineered water trough 😄 and a...well...place for horse dung, I have gone back and repainted the dung a tad darker. Si.
  6. Thanks Vince, really pleased you have checked in and like the offerings. In some ways, Covid and the lockdowns have been a help, it has given me time to actually get stuff done, had nothing else to do LOL. With a bit of luck, next year will see the 'village' and all these bits in place at our clubs events and, fingers crossed, at some away events.
  7. Long time in posting Vince, hope you are doing okay? Has been a difficult time regarding health but, have been working away slowly. Now have somethings to show. Glad you like the barge, hull and structure plasticard, she will not sail or float for that matter. The crane/winch is two caps from a plastic set of shelves, with various detail parts added. The mast is a chopstick, the decking is lollipop sticks. Basically, anything in the spares/bits box was rummaged for 😀
  8. Here is a collection of items that I have made as a mini diorama in the big 'village' diorama for our RC vehicle village. I made the broken crate out of coffee stirrers and lollipop sticks with various flock, foliage and paint effects. The wood store is some old model boat wood framing and then coffee stirrers and lollipop sticks and is double slatted, the roof is actually lead and both pitches of the roof are at differing angles, this coupled with the double slats allows better air flow to help in drying the wood. The brazier is all metal construction with a flickering tealight used for the flame, some charcoal bits and pigments used to create the burnt parts. There is also a bench I made, but forgot to take some piccies.
  9. This is my continental barge to go with the canal pieces I made for our clubs 1/16-1/18 radio control military vehicle sections 'village'. She is based on the unpowered type, no engine and is taken by horses up and down the canal from a staging area,, tugs then take a few of these back around the coast to a port for loading etc. She has a petrol generator on board to power the winch crane and lights. While it was all out I touched up the canal itself by adding a lacquer coat to the inside to create a more reflective look. I also made a overspill well and various parts for the barge, figures bought and adapted/repainted, horses have been repainted and saddles/rugs made. The barge is made for plasticard with crane winch is scratch made, the gangway is a 1/72 airfix bridge with 1/16 PIV wheels added. The well is model railway bridge sections with various scratch made parts and epoxy for water. Pallets made from coffee stirrers and lollipop sticks. Ladder is scratch made. I made a hay pile for the stables and horses and made some more items that go with this in another post. Si.
  10. You're not wrong mate, a few folk have mentioned that.
  11. Hi guys, I have been working on this for weeks, it is my take on a space capsule with service module etc. It isn't supposed to be any that flew or is in service. I made it out of junk and scrap, the housing is a old torch, the rest is made up of inhaler bits, model boat and tank bits, plumbing part for the nose cone with a brass and aluminium base and steel rod. It is 90% metal so the weight of the base helps to keep it upright. The decals are whatever I had in the box from all types of models. Si.
  12. Yeah, I have a small drum so that's the dustbin sorted, just need to make some shelves then. Glad you like it Pete.
  13. UPDATE. Roof on-I used real fine sand attached with PVA, weathered it all. The crane is parts left over from when I did the gantry crane, these were cit down and modified by using plasticard and tubing with other parts from spares bin., found a kaput motor so it looks like the winch works via electric and the electrical connections housed in a plasticard box. The air pump fitted and this and the pipework have all been weathered. I made a oldie fire extinguisher from a toy fire extinguisher and turned it upside down, drilled it out and added a wheel, the housing for it is a large picture frame hanger, opened up and filed out. The sign is made from plasticard off cuts with lights made from 1/16 Tiger 1 suspension arms, inhaler parts and model boat nav lights, I found a wheel hub and made the fuel pump and spanner from plasticard. Not much more to do...unless I find stuff to add...which I normally do.
  14. Yeah, the pump is a still 😃 I wanted that slightly yellow colour for fuel but had no yellow clear, so made some using a green and a orange and got a slight tinge to it-thought, superb that will do...er, no...forgot the base was red so it shows up as orange-my excuse is that it is coloured diesel. Glad you like the stuff so far!
  15. Over the past few weeks I have been working on a open style oldie garage/mechanic garage to go with a workshed for our clubs RC tank/vehicle display village. Due to lockdown and me in a shielded state 99% of the bits have been scratch made from old dolls house pieces or spares and bits bin items. The only item bought was the fuel pump and this was stripped and repainted and weathered. Here are some shots of the build, the base taking shape and then pipe work, with a workbench made and various other bits, I also made a air-pump. More to come...
  16. Bless you mate, really appreciate the comment mate. Really pleased that it does look like something that actually existed, that is reassuring. Si.
  17. I wasn't sure in which category as it is a hybrid of the two-decided on civvy as it is more civvy than military.
  18. Thank you, appreciate you stopping by and taking a look. Really glad you like it.
  19. While I was finishing off the 1/16 RC African rebel pickup I was, as you do, routing around in the bits and spares boxes when I came upon a spare cab...with me being in 'shielded-isolation' my outdoor adventures are from the back door to the workshed and back-modelling has taken on a more relaxed mood and something I am taking my time with even more. Anyway, with our club having zero home and away RC events I thought I would make some more scenery pieces to go with the buildings we have. This scrap can needed to be small enough to be taken to shows along with all the other stuff I take yet, it needed to look bulky with junk. Lots of old wheels and various bits used., turned out okay. Si.
  20. This was to be a Taliban version but I liked the African rebel type. She is 4X4, had to do some mods to the rear to hide the battery, this lifts up, all RC bits hidden in the front and mid section, used micro speed controller etc. All metal running gear and new wheels added. Repainted the figures, added checker-plate to the rear and made a storage box using the same checker-plate plasticard, made some metal grab rails and rope coiled the rear one. Was lucky I found a gun in a charity shop months ago and it was earmarked for this job, stripped and repainted, found some ammo belts that fitted the gun so with hacking and drilling managed to get the thing to fit, it also swivels on the base to allow battery access. Interior stripped out and repainted with figure and accessories added. I also raided the 1/16 spares and found another bumper so that was bolted on the front. The camo was roughly painted by hand as I wanted it to look like that is what was done. Weathered and sealed. Hopefully, she will see action back end of this year at a show. Si.
  21. Lovely model and setting, well done mate, like this. Si.
  22. Got my latests tank sorted a T-90. Steel gearboxes, road wheels, sprockets, idlers and tracks. Repainted, decals added and figure I found in the 'troops' box-repainted. Here she is beside her companion the T-72 (green one).
  23. Thanking you Vince, I have seen that show, they make some cracking fish tanks. I slapped this on Ebay for £15, thought, if it sells it sells...I then got an offer for £25 +postage...yeah, okay so, another rusty, crusty wreck off into the wild. Yeah, that could work, might be a pain to try and do on the cheap though. Cost wise, it is probably easier to just get a ready-made one. You could of course, just get a fish tank and slap the wrecks in...minus any fish and see how they go, if they start breaking apart after two weeks then epoxy might be the only way to seal.
