periklis_sale
Guys hi!!!! I am about to by an air compressor from B&Q £35.00 reduced from almost 60!!!! Not bad!!!! I want to ask when they say 1/4" adaptor they mean the diameter of the adaptor? I had a look and i saw i need an adaptor. My airbrush i think it has a typical hose with the threaded part to have a diameter of 10mm which fits in the H&S infinity air brush. The compressor has a quick release part at its exit with is bigger than the hose i have........ Where can i find adaptors and what is it this 1/4" or 1/8" or whatever??? I will buy it tomorrow and if i cannot find an adaptor i send it back no harm done!!!!! Thanks for your help guys!!!!!!!!!!
Takamota
The 1/4" refers to the thread size. It will be 1/4" BSP (British Standard Pipe) You should be able to pick up adaptors from any hardware store or from specialist hydraulic/pneumatic suppliers like Hydrasun. You probably could get them also at B&Q Hope this helps Tom

Takamota
Yes mate. 1/4 and 1/8. If it's about 10 mm it will be 1/4 if it's tiny (about 4mm) it will be 1/8 BSP My Iwata CS2 is 1/4"BSP Edited December 30, 2007 by Takamota
GrahamEM
Yeah there's no need to send back the compressor, i recently bought a compressor and it came with 1/4 out, to a free 1/4-1/8 adaptor which fits into your airbrush i think it shows something below
periklis_sale
So my airbrush hose is 1/4" cause its about 10mm. The compressor outpout is larger....so i will measure it tomorrow and i will try to convert to inches.....who is using imperial measurements!!!!!!!!!! Graham where did you by the adaptor from?
GrahamEM
I got it from http://www.everythingairbrush.com/ the measurements aren't metric 1/4 & 1/8th of an inch
OzH
Don't know if it helps but I've seen these adaptors on ebay, maybe worth having a look...
baldrick
Don't know if it helps but I've seen these adaptors on ebay, maybe worth having a look... When it states that the size is 1/4 or 1/8 this is the internal dia. of the tube, pipe etc. You may need an adaptor with a small hole to releive the air flow otherwise you will get a Pulse when using an Airbrush e.g. Splatter. Badger sell these. Hope thats some help. Dave.. Edited December 30, 2007 by baldrick

Thats what it looks like: but it doesn't come with a hose have to use mine.... It comes with this thing i think it is a quick release something!!!! Below are some photos of this thing with a tape measure and my hose...the part with the white tape goes on the compressor....so what do i ask for to connect my airbrush hose to this thing or straight to the comprassor? sorry about the photos... Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!
GrahamEM
8bar is plenty, i think mine runs to 4bar but you only need up between 30 & 50 psi for an airbrush. does it all connect up ok ? it should work if all sizes mate up ok

Takamota
Peri, what diameter is the hole on the regulator?
Takamota
It's ok i see it on the quick connect fitting. Right, you need to ask for a 1/4" NPT male X 1/4 BSP male fitting remember to use thread tape on the NPT end only (the end which goes into the regulator) At some point in the future you might consider buying a shut of valve which goes on to the regulator and all the fittings you have now screw into that instead. This will allow you to remove the airbrush hose without the need to empty the reservoir of air. Hope this helps Tom

rdxtnt
I think you need something like this which is what I had to purchase to connect my airbrush to my compressor. They are known as "step-down" connectors and come in a range of different BSP (British Standard Pipe) sizes. There's a useful size chart here which should let you work out the size you need http://ashevillecommunity.org/hawker/water/bspp_threads.html The actual connector cost around £2.00 IIRC so they are not expensive. As you say that your airbrush hose has a quick release connector I'm not sure if any type of fitting is available for that sort of thing so I'd say the best thing to do is take your airbrush hose to the hardware shop and let them have a look. They're used to dealing with stuff like this and should be able to help. Hope this is useful Gary.
periklis_sale
is it that one? http://www.premiair-pneumatics.co.uk/webca...uctCode=S010105 Edited December 31, 2007 by periklis_sale
Notdoneyet
is it that one?http://www.premiair-pneumatics.co.uk/webca...uctCode=S010105 periklis, No, you need Item 203002 on this page. HTH, Ian
Takamota
But Peri said his hose is the same size both ends ie. 1/4 BSP. that fitting is 1/8 BSP at one end. Also, his regulator will be a tapered thread (hence the thread tape on the fitting he took out of it)
periklis_sale
Tom you are right my hose is 1/4" I think is item 203004 what do you think? Edited December 31, 2007 by periklis_sale
Notdoneyet
Tom you are right my hose is 1/4"I think is item 203004 what do you think? periklis, I'm sure that your hose is 1/4" in external diameter but the fitting on the end is a 1/8" BSP fitting judging by your last photo. The outlet on your compressor is a 1/4" BSP fitting. So to mate the output of your compressor to your airbrush hose you need a 1/4" BSP (Male) to 1/8" BSP (Male) fitting. Therefore Item 203002 here is what you need. HTH, Ian
Takamota
Ian, he has an Iwata airbrush like mine and i can assure you it's 1/4" BSP not 1/8" as my Aztek is
