Roof Rat
Hello all I've just finished reading Chris Terrill's " How to build an aircraft carrier" , it covers the building and the sea trials of the QE under Capt. Jerry Kyd, well this has inspired me to have a-go at a 1/48 F-35B (an a/c I must admit I haven't shown a lot of interest in prior to reading the book). Would I be correct in assuming the Italeri 2022 new tool release is probably the best starting point? If so, are there any pitfalls I should lookout for? As usual any help, pointers will be gratefully received. Cheers RR (Chris).
Harrier/ViperFan
For the F-35B it's the only option to be honest thats worth going with. The kitty Hawk kit is based on the prototype and has major fit issues and is not worth the Money. Plus the kit has a QE marking i believe oob.
Roof Rat
Hello Harrier/Viper Fan Thanks for the reply it's much appreciated, I was beginning to think I had stumped the membership when nobody replied. After further research on the internet, it led me to the same conclusion as you, so I've ordered the Italeri kit, but it's yet to arrive. Thanks again in taking the time to reply. Cheers RR (Chris).
exdraken
If it helps, I have the kit, not built yet, looks nice. Currently the only readily available B model in 48. With up to date decals, and surely less fiddly to build compared to the KH one. Looking forward to your build thread actually!
Roof Rat
Hello exdraken Thanks for the reply, I don't think I've researched a kit as much as I have this one, mine still hasn't arrived, (mind you the post doesn't normally arrive until around midday). Looking forward to it. Cheers RR (Chris).
Curt B
This is probably WAY old news to the OP Roof Rat, but Tamiya has announced a forthcoming 1/48 F-35B. If you can afford to wait for it, this kit WILL be the pinnacle of F-35B models.
Roof Rat
Hi Curt B Thank's I have one on pre-order from Mr H. If it's anything like their F-35A it will be a cracker, can't wait. Cheers RR
