Unsticking Decals from a kit instruction sheet
Ray S posted a topic in Modelling TipsHello all, At my Model Club, we have a colleague who has a problem. He has a new (2 year old) kit where the transfers have stuck, image side down naturally, to the instructions. Does anyone know how to get them to release in such a way that they can be used? I did wonder if they could be steamed gently off, like we used to do to get stamps off envelopes in the old days. Any help would be appreciated, otherwise it is a letter to the manufacturer I suppose, but that is cheating. Ray
Straightening resin parts
Ray S posted a topic in Modelling TipsHello all. I am building a resin ship kit, but have found one part is a bit out of true: There is quite a bit of fine detail on the deck surface of this part, so I am wary of clamping too hard for this. Will the best way of straightening it be to clamp the part flat onto a metal sheet (using a bulldog clip on the L/H side and a peg on the R/H), immerse it into some hot (not boiling) water and leave it for a while, remove it then run it under cold water to lock it into the new shape? I also have three 3D printed small steam Coaster ship models which are also bowed so any advice will help with them too. Many thanks for reading this, and any advice will be greatly appreciated. All the best everyone, Ray
Tailsitter for take off
marky sparky posted a topic in Aviation ChatHi. This might seem a dumb question for many, but I've seen photo's of Scimitars' and Buccaneers ready for take off on aircraft carriers tail sitting, I just wondered how they did it. (sarcastic comments accepted but don't be too boring, thanx).

Cutting Small Tubes
Marvel Onkey posted a topic in Modelling TipsHow do people cut small tube without crimping it? I've bought some 1mm x 0.25mm aluminium tube to use as replacement gun barrels etc, but it is too small to be gripped by my K&S tube cutter which goes down to 1/16" leaving me at a little bit of a loss...
Refurbishing Old Models
JohnT posted a topic in Modelling TipsI have an old 1/32 scale Revell Mirage which was pretty decent in its day but is now a faded old glory I was thinking of buying another and doing it up with AM parts - possibly something from Isracast - but they are hard to find and when you do they are a tad expensive for what nowadays would be a very basic model. I got to thinking about taking the old one apart, stripping the paint off (old Humbrol enamels) opening her up for a new cockpit etc. I have seen lots of old models "getting the treatment" but wondered if there were any good methods for removing paint, loosening old tube glue etc and any pitfalls to watch out for? Any advice welcome as always John
