Tiger tanks and shermans seem to be de rigueur!

I can't help thinking that the stormtroopers, clutching their Mausers were the inspiration for the Star Wars stormtroopers! 🤣 I don't have the bridge layer but it's on my list, my Grandfather was in the RE in Europe after D Day which inspires me!

I'm getting impatient to start...so impatient in fact I'm doing silly scratch stuff to an old Airfix 1/72 25pdr, limber and quad!!! 🤣
-
Nice stuff, I love this kit, I have one waiting! Great value for money these old Airfix kits!
-
Fabricating a thinner gun shield, shaving off the features on the kit part and gluing them onto the new part.

I believe that HMS Rodney was possibly the main contender. KGV had a few issues with her main armament but the two still managed to fire about 700 14 and 16 inch shells at Bismark! Yes, markings on the Walrus are a bit of a worry! I have a Nelson to convert to Rodney but I feel that with my limited ship experience scratch building is better left to a non GB activity! 😁

Thanks Mike, Great stuff. I hadn't thought of that option!
-
Thanks Pat, with 4 months I'm hopeful I can deliver in this GB! p.s. there are wings on the Walrus 😁

I believe it was the left shoulder that got caked with oil. My father had a camel pilot's leather (cavalry) coatvthat he used for gardening...One of the shoulders was much darker and more waterproof than the other...convinced ot was the left shoulder!

Ok, I'm committing myself to this...I have practiced on a destroyer over Christmas and was quite chuffed with my efforts (more plastic than glue!). So I am going to attempt this venerable old girl of battle of the Bismarck fame with some of Tom's photo etch...if I fail dismally I have a back up of a Gloster Sea Gladiator 😉

A bit more on the limber...brass tube and card!
-
And a bit more work on the limber and carriage.
-
Wheels and tyres muddied up, except the spare.

Hi Mike, mine is going to be busy in Normandy and thereabouts so I have used your SCC15 Tamiya paint mix with no secondary camouflage.
-
Some assembly and some modification to the limber.
-
Parts primed...
-
A fair bit to be done to the limber as well such as the leaf spring stands...totally absent in the Airfix kit!
-
Looks better in real life...the metallic grey paint looks a lot brighter than it is!

I've looked at the barrel and considered modifying it, so far I have cleaned it up and made a flash arrestor, cut the back half off the breech, split it longitudinally into 3, bored the breech, but a groove in the top of the breech block and glued it back on to display an open breech...

Thought I would have a go at this. Last attempted in the 70s! It's quite a well moulded kit I think, given the scale and the age. Anyway, here are the bits!
-
That's what I thought 😉

....and just in case I can't summon up the courage to build a ship, would a Mk ii Gloster Gladiator converted to sea gladiator, back converted to one of the Malta 3 be acceptable?

Hello, I'm about to start a few vehicles and have assumed that generally chassis colours would be the same as the body base colours. However, Having worked in a fire engine factory The various chassis that were used were brought in from various manufacturers. So, would many lorry types, e.g. AEC matador, Bedford O etc. have been black and largely over painted base colour after manufacturing or, painted base colour, as the relevant camouflage directives directed? The same question goes for axles...period is summer 1944.
