  1. Robin Just popped over to see Alan and took some pics of the Cutty so that we can update the viewers. First up is a shot of the base of the foremast. Note the new bulwarks and stanchions and the pigpen railing. Also note the cleats round the base of the mast. Next up the new nameplate and the brass decoration on the bow The main mast base has the eyebolts and cleats also and note in particular the new pump handles. Next is the new portholes in brass for the cabin and also some different railings. This photo also shows the new extended companion way and skylight The final photo shows the etch stern railings (not actually fitted yet as we had to shorten the prototype version). This photo shows the stern decoration and a good view of the etch stanchions in the background Hope you chaps like what we are doing with these kits Cheers john
  2. Hi Foxy Just to let you know we have now received the delivery of the Single beckets. Needless to say these have been slightly problematic as we are right on the cutting edge of what the printer can cope with, not in terms of the block itself but the size of the print files. However all is well now and we will sell them in packs of 100. They will be on the shop later today when I have the created the image to go with the item but if you want to make an order before then just ring Robin and he will take an order over the phone. I do hope we will be able to see your creation in the flesh soon! It's terrific work and dedication. Hats off to you! Cheers John
  3. Hi Foxy At last the Becket Block doubles have arrived and are on the website. They are available in packs of 60. Apologies for the delay but cutting edge technology and all that.... http://www.scalewarship.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=196_198&product_id=386 regards John
  4. Hi Foxy Watching all this with great interest. As I mentioned before, the becket blocks (double and single) are right on the cutting edge of what the 3D printer can do. I can report however that some of the doubles have now been successfully printed and 3000 of them will be posted out to us tomorrow. The singles should follow within a few days thereafter. Now that print files have been successfully proven it will be just a matter of ordering future prints. We will try to keep a stock but there is only so much print time available. As I now know, although the items are small, the amount of data required to produce the print information is enormous. Producing the stl files has been a bit of a headache, but that has now been solved. I have had to balance the quantity versus cost in order to keep an attractive price and I can also tell you that I won't be going any smaller than the single block but am already looking at reproducing some the larger blocks which will be required for other ships of various scales where the kit is lacking them or in sufficient detail. Nevertheless keep up the good work. I like what you did with our flag lockers. What will you do next? The Cutty Sark doesn't have so many guns!! cheers John
  5. Stunning paintwork. Liked your wood finishing technique. Have just started drawing the ratlines for production in etch for those who don't want the job of tying up their own. I am basing the ratlines on the Revell kit and not the Airfix kit so not sure if the result will be good for both yet! I suspect that given the time you have spent on the detail so far you will probably be fabricating the ratlines yourself anyway! Please finish the build off as you have started. John
  6. Hi Foxy Where do you find the time. Coming apace now. More good news for you. The Becket blocks (single and double) are on their way. Alan has had a play with the first trial batch of the single Becket blocks and I have put together a montage of the printing sprue with the blocks, a close up of a single block and a couple of closeups of one of his mast assemblies which show the single block in place and also if you look closely a coupleof Jeer blocks. First though is a 3D image of a double block ( with a piece of sprue) from the which the printing files were derived. This is the montage of a single block Cheers for now John
  7. Hi there folks, Just to round off the 180th Victory bits, I have added the stairway handrails and 2 more sizes of blocks to my list. These are the most common type (double or single) but these are right on the edge of what the is possible with 3D printer. The holes are .32mm in diameter and the blocks will be approx. 1mm by 1.3mm x 1mm.(or 0.8mm for the single). I expect these to be available within the next few weeks unless we have a technical issue with the printing or an economic one with cost versus quantity. Knowing that the ship has several hundred of these blocks means that I need to print them in fairly large quantities, but I am expecting that we will manage somehow. We are working on fitting the first etch for the small Cutty Sark at present and when we are happy with that I will finish off the ratlines for the Cutty and see what else we can improve on. After that I will be looking at the Beagle/Bounty/USS Constitution[1/196th version) regards John PS Foxy been following your build. Wish I had your hours for myself to spend on building. Keep it going you're doing a great job!
  8. Hi Everyone We have received the first of the 3D parts which will enhance the 180th Victory. We have tried to introduce parts which are missing from the kit and which are listed as such in the Airfix Victory book. (Chapter 7 Modifications) and which can useful be made to a reasonable level of detail. The first picture shows the Cross Deck rails and a few other other fitting such as the kevels, jeer blocks and hearts. We are still awaiting the last few items which will form the basis of this additional resin detail set. (Not relatively scaled!!) The second picture shows these items on the black and brass ship which Alan is building and are painted in white for ease of identification. More to come later best wishes John
  9. Foxy Checked out the web shop and I have no idea why its stopping you. All the entries which govern the shipping etc are identical to all the stuff that is always being ordered. To coin a phrase I am completely foxed. No pun intended! If you still can't complete the order when you try again please try to send me a screen dump direct to my website email address and I will try to figure it out. regards John
  10. Hi everyone The postman has called! The Victory 180th Ratlines and Fittings Sets are now available on the website http://www.scalewarship.com Stern Windows Deadeyes showing the individual tightening ropes There will be a few new 3D printed items arriving this week. More news when the postman calls again! best wishes John
  11. Hi Foxy The word is imminent. All the frets are with the etchers, just working on some instructions now. We hope to take delivery early next week of the frets. The 3D parts are also with the printers and expected next week. No idea how they will turn out but hope they will fit the bill. This is all we will be doing on the 180th Victory for a while and we will be turning to Cutty Sark next week. I haven't ordered many as I really don't know how they will be received but replacements should only take a few days if the orders roll in!! We have had a lot of requests to produce ratlines for other similar size sailing ships so if the Victory is well received I think we will heading in that direction. They say that wanting is often better than having, I do hope they are wrong All the best John
  12. Foxy Yes the hearts and blocks will be in the 3D print resin, not casting resin. Funny you should mention the oars and seats for the boats, only yesterday I drew up the oars and was discussing with Alan about producing a new general purpose fret as these boats were quite widely used on other ships (I believe) but the "Sark" is next on the slipway. Why is it everyone wants what you haven't yet done? I am sure there must be a Murphy's law equivalent for this! Perhaps I should name it "Scalewarship Syndrome" regards John
  13. Hi Everybody The day of reckoning is at hand. The test builds have been completed and the Final revisions to the Victory Fittings and Ratlines Etch sets have been despatched to production. We have also been busy preparing a few 3D printed items to complement the etch sets and these will sent off for printing tonight. they include the cross deck balustrades, kevels, cleats, hearts and blocks. If anyone has any specific request for a particular ship to be supplemented by etch and 3d bits please list them here and I will publish a complete list of the requests and our intentions. Thanks to everyone who has been supportive of this leap of faith into the unknown best wishes John
  14. Hi Killingholme We will be moving onto the Cutty Sark next (I have to mention the "Sark" is my personal all time favourite ship) but after that we will probably look into doing some specific ratlines as a number of people have expressed interest in the concept. The purists don't like it but at the smaller scales (130th to 180th) it seems to be an acceptable alternative to what is supplied (or not) in the kit and if it brings out the stashed kits and gets the build going it must be a good thing. I will compile a list of all suitable ( and most requested kits) and try to work through them. Hope this helps best wishes John
  15. Hi Folks A couple of photos of the latest progress on the small Victory. The deck fittings and ratlines have been left unpainted so that the contrast with the black plastic of the kit itself. Alan is also building another kit which he is painting. We will be finalising the corrections and amendments and additions this holiday weekend. Production run is imminent best wishes John
  16. Hi All We have received the first Etch set back for a trial fitting. Here is a photo of the stern windows. The left hand one shows the etch fitted to the unpainted part while the right hand side shows the stern gallery painted. The side parts are shown in various stages of prep. We have a couple of small tweaks to make before the first production run. it is our aim to make one kit in unpainted black plastic with all the new etch parts fitted to act as a comparison to the finished painted ship. As pictures become available I will post them here. Best regards John
  17. Hello Everyone Its here at last. At last years Nats we were asked if we would produce the Sea Knight Rotor Fold. Well you asked and we did it. The Rotor Arm End piece The Blade End piece This is the Rotor fold assembly fitted to the fuselage when viewed from above For more information go to http://www.scalewarship.com Look out for our next instalment of Helicopter goodies as we are now looking at the Osprey. Before I get inundated with emails I know its not a helicopter in the strictest sense but it fits the range of conversion kits nicely. Best regards John
  18. Hi Folks Here are a couple pics of the parts and the prototype model.
  19. ...well I did it again. Whoever designed the keypad put the 0 next to the 1 and I must have hit both. Note to self. Must do better Fixed now. John
  20. Sorry Folks The offending stray photo of the Wessex on our website is now no more. Apologies for not reading the email better Jenko. Thought you meant the photo of Telford! Will be adding more photos shortly John
  21. Hi Folks The 32nd scale Rotor Fold conversion set for the Revell Lynx is now available from our online store. http://www.scalewarship.com As seen as the IPMS Nationals at Telford in November. John
  22. Sorry Folks, will get the hang of this image upload malarky soon!! John
  23. Hi Folks Just to let you know that Scale Warship will be at the Nationals in Hall 2 with the Prototype parts for the 32nd Lynx Rotor Fold hot off the printer. Production will start on Monday when Robin gets back home! Also new is the 72nd Scale Flight Deck etchings which include the grill, tie-downs, netting and drilling templates. The recently introduced 48th Wessex Rotor Fold will be available as well. For those of you who favour the larger model we will also have on show some of the new Ship Fittings in our 96th and 72nd Scale range. Here are a couple of images of the 3D parts for the Lynx. (So new had no time to take any photos of the actual parts) See you there John
  24. Hi Bootneck You are quite right. The drawing does show a nut whereas in reality it is probably a theaded pin with a knurled nut. The attached photo is a close-up of the head from the Wessex down in Bournemouth Aviation Museum which is close to me. Unfortunately they didn't have the blades folded and also didn't have the support cradle etc. Most of the work was done from various drawings and photos of the example in the museum at Yeovilton. However, at model size the nut is very small and when 3D printed is visible but doesn't really show any great definition. Also the part caters for both left and right handed fitting so I put the nut on both ends and sides. Hope this doesn't detract from what we are trying to do. Regards John at Scale Warship
