  1. Pictures man.....pictures !!!
  2. Thanks mate,I have some good pics of the cargo door actually, some from inside too if you're interested for your 72nd kit.I might have a crack at a flying vignette as opposed to a standing version as I think it looks more dramatic. If you can find those refuelling pods that would be great,if not,can you let me know the details of the parts and I'll email Hawkeye direct?
  3. Ray,how did you do the refuelling probe on the Hornet? I don't think my Dragon kits have the provision for it.
  4. Hey Kev...the one surviving image I have of the day John Travolta flew his V-Jet into Melbourne a few years back. The others are on a disk somewhere in my burmuda triangle garage. Hope you like it? Taken on the taxiway from a moving vehicle doing about 60km/h !! Note the missing Aussie flag. ps: Thanks for letting me and Ray hijack your thread for a lil bit....
  5. G'day Ray,well this is the kit I have for the 707 and the kit for the Super Hornets. The decals I'll be using and the refuelling pods that I'm lucky enough to have got as a pair. They look close enough to what I've seen on the real planes up close.BUT......I was told there is a difference in the model from Minicraft and the real planes the RAAF use. I have some good close up pics to try and scratch some bits and bobs, just wanted to know 100% as I'm thinking of entering it as a standing vignette in the show come june/july at Sandown. These are some pics I've got of a whole album.I have a whole heap of other RAAF jets and Airliners.net has plenty more for some accurate stuff.I'm just a lil dumb in spotting the subtle differences.I'll probably trim the pods props for the motor to tw blades but not sure how to replicate the lights other than try and trim tiny bits of plasticard and fill.To be honest, would it really matter? Wouldn't the RAAF 707 use modern US kit anyway now we have the FA/18F SH ?
  6. Looks amazing Kev..just brilliant !! I've been lucky enough to see this bird in person and it definately brings back some memories. One question though...I have this same kit but I'm going to do it as the RAAF re-fueller with 2 Super Hornets.I have all the kits and decals but I'm told the civil "Pan-Am" one from Minicraft is different to the RAAF one.I know there are little subtlties like the round box on the tail, but what else should I be looing for and where do I get the conversion parts as Hawkeye don't have them and Southern Cross only do decals apparently.Have done the ebay thing too..no luck.So some advice from yourself would be great.
  7. I'm excited Paul..that means you'll be able to do my Victoria Police decals..yay!!
  8. Thanks,I'll see if I can find him. Will have to pull some strings to get detailed photo's of the PolAir Dauphin though.
  9. Hi guy's,not sure if this is the right forum sub-sector to post this qustion but I was wondering if anyone would happen to know where I could get a hold of decals for the Victoria Police Dauphin choppers as used here in Australia.I'd also like to get a hold of the New South Wales PolAir Squirrel decals too. I know it's more a question for the aussie lurking about on here like me but I thought maybe someone somewhere might have comes across it.Always good to branch out.....
  10. Oh my god!!!! Tell us spastic newbies how on earth you created water like this??? In detail with all the products as well...
  11. Looks fantastic mate.Very nice model. On question though..how did you mask the intakes when painted?
  12. Looks FANTASTIC!! Shame it won't be in a diorama setting sitting on the back of a navy ship or something.HUEY'S FOREVER!!
  13. Hiya guys, still looking for the undercarriage doors for this kit. It's in the "primed" stage about to get first cost down tomorrow & have NO doors to finish it off!! My scratch building skills are pretty much non exhistant,so if anyone has spare doors I'd be a happy chappy if you could send em over.
  14. Humbrol's No.53 "Gunmetal" is perfect I've found.Goes on like a very dark metallic grey but dries a nice metallic finish, kind of like the metal you'd see on casted steel.I've used it plenty of times over the years & it's never once looked out of place.Perfect for personal weapons & armour tracks

    Fractured decals

Ok guys..this may be a dumb question with an obvious answer but I'm hoping that I'm wrong.I have a set of 1/48 Blue Angels decals that appear to have fractured over the years and the decal film seems to have eroded away. The paper around the decals is covered in some fine dust which can't be removed without applying water to it,but by doing so the decals start to lift.I've taken one off and it fractured when I tried to remove it from the backing paper. So......is there a way you can restore decals in this condition? Maybe some brush on liquid decal film migh work if applied with a fine brush to the decal itself and very little of the backing paper.Any suggestions, comments, hints would be greatly appreciated.Yes I've thought of just getting a new decal sheet, but it seems a shame to throw away a nice full set for a Hornet.
