Thanks for replying so quick. What sort of detail would you need Bob?

Been away for a while but back now with a question. Can anybody identify exactly what type of Jeeps these are. I know Willy's but what type specifically? Cheers in advance Rob

Further work on the MLP. Coming together well I think.

Blast walls now added.

So, to the first stage..............the Mobile Launch Platform. I've used the exsessive amount of Depron I have to build the basic top bottom and sides of the MLP. Here it is upside down with a few bits of wood slung in to reinforce it on the sides. Top view. All sides and base fitted also. The top and bottom are identicle but the lower section is cut right through the middle of the Shuttles exhaust vent and the smaller section is set slightly higher than the main section but with a 2mm lip leading from the front wall. Once its all dry, I'll sand it all level and coat it with an enamel filler to strengthen it more.

Cheers Mike. I have a load of images of the Complex but the more the merrier, especially close ups of it. Here's something you all might find interesting. This chap has built one but in 1/72nd scale. It's well impressive and what inspired me to do mine but on a smaller scale. This one is on an 8ft x 4ft base! I'm using his images from his site to help with the build of mine. Here's a link to his website he created while building it. It's an incredible peice of modelling. http://www.shuttlelaunchcomplex.com/mycomplex.htm

Extremely hard to find, hense the scratch build. Yeah on closer inspection I now agree. I'll be using the MLP card version and will be mounting it on something a little stiffer.

Measurments now made and have decided to make a cabinet for this display to sit on with a glass surround. Nowt worse than spending an age building a model and struggling to keep the dust off. The cabinet is a basic 4ft x 2ft cupboard with an extra layer built on top for the launch pad to sit on that will have the rocket thrust directors sunk into. The total height of the Complex is 19 inches and the length 35 inches. The base ramp that the pad sits on is going to be made from 6mm Depron sheet covered in fibreglass cloth to strengthen it and the main complex, well you'll just have to watch and see. Image below isn't accurate but just a depiction of what I'm aiming for.

Thanks for the link Mick but the Discovery kit comes with the MLP and Crawler pad already. Let me know what the tile decals are like cause it will be a while before I build the Orbiter itself. I only need to build the MLP Crawler, SRB's and Fuel tank to start with for height referance to the main complex. This is the MLP Crawler platform and needs some heavy modifying. The sections arrowed are gonna have to be removed to make way for the sound supression system I'll be building into it. The first of many scratch mods to come

So here we go...... With the up and coming launch of Space Shuttle Discovery's final insertion to orbit for meeting the ISS, I have decided to build my most complicated diorama to date. I will be going from this...... to this......... Although I will be using the Revell kit for the Shuttle and Boosters, Launch Complex 39 is going to be scratch built with lights and all. Build starts tomorrow and finishes................

You can build whatever you want, as long as the car was produced from the production line in the dates above. Anything before or after those dates do not qualify.

Ok, this GB seems to be generating a lot more interest now and is looking more likely to go ahead as long as it's given the thumbs up by Mish. Just to clarify, the basics are as follows. It is going to be an American Muscle Cars GB, allowing any Muscle Car to be built between and including the years of 1965 to 1985. This also includes any Muscle Car used in movies or TV programs like the General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard or the Pontiac Firebird from Smokey and the Bandit, etc. You can also build cars that were race cars like the Dodge Daytona used in NASCAR, or any car that was converted into a Dragster. I have decided to make this a prize winning GB as long as thats ok with the Mods. Prize to be announced once the GB is authorized and dated to go ahead. Members down to join in so far are as follows:- RobMac RussTnailZ Mrcooljules Happy Martian wkennerley Devilfish CPNGROATS Graham77 TimJ Doug Rogers Keefr22 britmex modelman182 Rishi richellis darson Mrcooljules, you still up to co host the Build with me? I must apologize to all those who have tried to contact me in the past few weeks but I have had some serious problems at home and work and because of this, have not been on here as most of my modelling mates will now know. I hereby declare that all the group builds I intended in taking part in I will now have to pull out of, as I have not, unfortunately, got the time to take part in them. I will be finishing the 1/24 Stuka I was building in the B of B 75th Anniversary GB, but will no longer be posting WIP pictures of it, but will post it on here when finally finished. I am not giving up building models, in fact, I have a new project Diorama that I am about to start that will be one of the most complicated scratch builds I will have ever attempted. Because I have so many models and so little time, I have decided to sell some of my kits to anyone interested. If you are, PM me and I will tell you what I'm flogging. As for the scratch build and what it is, it will be posted as a WIP project on BM shortly, you just need to find it Mr G, if your reading this...........shhhhhhhh. Lets see how long they take to find it Once again, I apologize to all those who PM'd me. I think I've replied to you all. Regards Rob
