  1. Light stone. That's the colour whose name I couldn't remember.!!
  2. Hi Mike, Had the same dilemma myself with a 34 Squadron example .I settled on a mix, starting with white then adding insignia yellow until I THOUGHT it looked right. Some decades ago Scale Aircraft Modelling covered Suez aircraft and there was an opinion that the British Army Sand colour (No shortage there, apparently ! ) may have been used in certain instances. Regards
  3. Thanks everyone for the input. Happy modelling.
  4. Hi Julien . This is exactly my dilemma.! I've seen images from the early 1960s and the intake lip itself on some aircraft, appears to be natural metal (as called out by Airfix ) , never seen a period shot of the intake interior itself. All the extant airframes I have seen are all sky as per your illustration . Regards.
  5. Thank you Wellsprop . Fabulous photo , by the way. ! Think I'll take a chance on the metallic option for the EDSG/sky and I take your point on the LAG . Kind regards
  6. Hi All , I'm working through the Airfix Gannet AS4 and am looking at the intake lip .The instructions call for (aluminium)bare metal , but most of the photo evidence I've managed to view show this painted over with sky. I appreciate that conserved museum airframes may have been over painted. Any opinions most welcome, TIA
  7. Thank you Tony, much obliged. Happy modelling. D
  8. Hi All , May I ask please : What is the size of the under cockpit fuselage codes on the GA11 TIA Dave
  9. Hi Orion, Many thanks for that, and that's the way I'll go. But you know what they say : research is the enemy of the finished model ! 😂 ATB
  10. Hello All, I'm building the Trumpeter 1/48 Seahawk and would like to depict an 'in service' Suez example. The instructions call out aluminium (silver) for the bays, oleos and wheels However, all the preserved aircraft I have seen display the sky underside colour (allowing for conservation considerations, of course ), and I'm not able to source clear enough images of the time. Any thoughts or opinions most welcome. TIA Dave
  11. Thanks Guys , ATB Dave
  12. Hi Alll What is the easiest way of removing chrome plate from sprue / parts ? This is my first Ebbro build . Although my experience with Tamiya where ,the application of bleach has been successful , the Ebbro seems impervious. Any advice will be gratefully received. Thanks Dave
  13. Hi All, Just received one of the above ,and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of detail research ,or a 'How To '. I'm particularly intrested in adding extra wiring and plumbing ,and of course any advice on colour of components etc. TIA Dave
  14. Many thanks …..Wish I'd asked the question before! Happy modelling
  15. Hi All, Apologies if this has been asked before .Can you recommend the best way of replicating aerial wires that appear on the early Spits and Hurricane . All advice gratefully received T I A Dave
