  1. Hi Orion, Many thanks for that, and that's the way I'll go. But you know what they say : research is the enemy of the finished model ! 😂 ATB
  2. Hello All, I'm building the Trumpeter 1/48 Seahawk and would like to depict an 'in service' Suez example. The instructions call out aluminium (silver) for the bays, oleos and wheels However, all the preserved aircraft I have seen display the sky underside colour (allowing for conservation considerations, of course ), and I'm not able to source clear enough images of the time. Any thoughts or opinions most welcome. TIA Dave
  3. Hi Alll What is the easiest way of removing chrome plate from sprue / parts ? This is my first Ebbro build . Although my experience with Tamiya where ,the application of bleach has been successful , the Ebbro seems impervious. Any advice will be gratefully received. Thanks Dave
  4. Hi All, Just received one of the above ,and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of detail research ,or a 'How To '. I'm particularly intrested in adding extra wiring and plumbing ,and of course any advice on colour of components etc. TIA Dave
  5. Many thanks …..Wish I'd asked the question before! Happy modelling
  6. Hi All, Apologies if this has been asked before .Can you recommend the best way of replicating aerial wires that appear on the early Spits and Hurricane . All advice gratefully received T I A Dave
  7. HI All This may have been asked before : CMK and Valom have conversions for the Mossie. Does anyone have any experience of these ? TIA Dave

  9. Thanks Red 5 .Checked it out but unlucky ! Great site..What a lad....Takes his work seriously then ! D
  10. Many thanks for the tip .I did not know about liquid carrier film (or even seen it in the UK ) but can see the possibilities ! The trouble is , the original decal sheet is covered with minute wrinkles ,which I thought could be overcome by careful wetting but it just 'shattered' like a sheet of glass!! I'll have a look on internet .but may leave it in unmarked condition ,pretending this is how Big John himself saw it in the Lola showroom...(lol ) Dave
  11. Hi All Any help and advice gratefully received, Just finishing Tamiya Lola T160 in Team Surtees colours but have found that the decals are disintegrating pretty much straight away. Is it possible to source replacements ? TIA Dave
  12. Hi All Apologies if this is in the wrong section . Have any of you used this range and how would you compare them to Alclad2 ? . I have used some of these on a model car parts and was pleased with the result , but not sure how they would look on a airframe though TIA Dave
  13. Hi All Could you please share the best way to cut PE mesh to size and shape ? Thanks Dave
  14. Hi All Getting down (At last !) to my Tamiya Lola T160 Can anyone give me an idea of the inside/underside colour of the bodywork mouldings ? Thanks Dave
  15. Great work Rizzo I am inspired. I have picked up a Rob Walker 72 on e-bay and aim to finish it in Graham's colours. Can I ask what paints you used ? ( Including the monococque and exhausts etc and any detail up sets ) You have laid down the marker Regards Dave
  16. As I said the more you think ....The more uncertainty...Enough to make you see red!!! I am pretty sure that signal red is brighter than insignia red but as Dave rightly eluded colour film at the time cannot be relied upon. I will check out TS8 and take an educated (?) guess from there. Cheers All D
  17. PS to that Checked Hannants website and BS537 comes out as XO14 Red Arrows Red Cheers
  18. Many thanks Dave. This the problem I have ,the more I look at old photo's /film and try to compare ,the more confused I get ! Happy Modelling Dave
  19. Hi All, I have in the stash a Tamiya Lola T160 that I plan to build SFTB (Almost ,anyway !) Tam call out the overall colour as Insignia Red . I had thought that R A F insignia red would be a fair match , but am now having second thoughts . IIRC the Surtees F1 and F5000 teams of the 69/70 seasons were a darker , more crimson colour...but memory can be a funny thing ! Any advice gratefully received. Also any recommendations for the monocoque ? Many thanks Dave
  20. Much obliged Gents .I thought this might be the case . As someone once said , research is the enemy of the finished model. Many thanks Dave
  21. Hi All I'm completing an Airfix Canberra B2 in a MSG/LSG/PRU Blue scheme. My question is : Does the camo extend into the engine intakes and how far, or should they remain aluminium ? T I A Dave
  22. Could be totally wrong but I thought Sky Grey was a Navy colour MSG would be the RAF equivilant Dave
