1/48 Airfix Jaguar GR1 41©Sqn

XZ364/Q 'Sandman' Gulf War 1991

Paragon resin seat

Xrtradecal X012-48

I've been looking forward to this GB. I'll begin with the standard box and bits shot. Hopefully this will be a fairly straight forward build.

On this project I will be applying the K.I.S.S. principle... Keep It Simple Stupid.

Initially I had hoped to get the Neomega pit for this build but they seem to be as rare as hens teeth here in the states. So I decided to just use a Paragon resin seat with the canopy closed

This is the look I'm going for. Except, I think I'll have her loaded up.

I'll leave the super detailing to those infinitely more qualified than myself. As long as it turns out looking like a Gulf War Jaguar while sitting in my display case next to the other Gulf War Veterans I'll be pleased.

Thanks for looking,

Mark

If you're struggling finding the pit in the US, try http://www.neomega-resin.com/ - I use them quite a lot. They're slow(ish) and not the most communicative of companies, but they've not let me down yet (touch wood). :)

Thanks Mike,

I've checked them out and actually they were quite responsive to my query's. I'll definitely be picking up some bits from them in the future. It's just I'm such a slow builder that if I don't get going soon, with the holidays coming and all, I'll never finish. And I do not want a repeat of my showing( or lack there of ) during the first Britmodeller GB. :fraidnot:

I did order some of Phil Flory's wonder wash that I'm looking forward to trying out for the first time on this build though.

Thanks again,

Mark

It's been awhile since my last update on this project and quite frankly not much has happened. After my initial inspection of this kit I thought I would do a basic OOB build. But then I saw all the amazing work being done here and I thought I should up my game a bit. Besides I was really not happy with the detail in the cockpit provided by the kit. So I broke down and bought a Neomega pit from Parade Figures and a pair of intakes from our talented host to improve the quality of this project.

Initial dry fit and it all seems a bit daunting at the moment.

One of the tips I picked up here. I cut out the bottom of the duct and will attach a bit of plastic sheet to replace it.

The IP shroud has been cut away in preparation for the resin replacement.

I hope to have more significant progress to show soon.

Thanks for looking,
