EastEnder Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 BRILLIANT!!! Thanks mate. Some great reference material for my next build!
Johnny Red Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 No problem mate , one question it seems to be red all over, I think thats going to be to much, I was thinking of giveing mine a light gray underside ( if I did one that is) what do you think
Pat C Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Interesting field modification on the Mossie - what looks like 4 * .50 cals pinched from a B25 or B26 mounted on the sides of the nose!! Did Battle have the "Panzer G-Man" strip? Something ever so slightly dodgy about having a strip with a German hero but doubtless he was not a member of the Nazi party! Oh and whatever happened to KP Griddles?? Mmmmmmm!! Pat
Johnny Red Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 Hi Pat, I never liked griddles, monster munch man me, Panzer G-man was a great story
EastEnder Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 No problem mate , one question it seems to be red all over, I think thats going to be to much, I was thinking of giveing mine a light gray underside ( if I did one that is) what do you think Well, I must admit my memory was playing tricks as I thought the underside *was* pale grey! I agree I think all-over red would be a bit much. I might leave the engines red though... Next question, what mark of Mossie is it?
Johnny Red Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 I wouldn't no what scale to do one in, have a 1/48th Tamiya one, but am thinking it might be a waste, may be 1/72nd I suppose it down to your taste and what you've got
Pat C Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Panzer G-man was a great story Do you remember the back-story Johnny? It was set on the Eastern front wasn't it? I seem to recall Panzer G-Man might have fallen foul of the authorities somehow and it was one of those nothing-to-lose type characters that the writers loved (a la "D-Day Dawson"). Certainly no mercy was shown to the Ivan in that strip. One of the early Viz's had a parody of the Battle/ Victor type strips which was very funny. There is an airman protecting a convoy and the stalking U-boat elevates its nose out of the water 45 degress to fire a torpedo at him. Despite then having a wing hanging off he dives his Hurricane under the water and gives the U-boat a good squirt from his mgs destroying it. He then makes it back to his carrier but crashlands on the deck and the ensuing fire sinks the carrier. Pat
Johnny Red Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 (edited) no sorry pat I don't remember Johnny, that Viz story sounds great , love Viz was a brilliant mag Edited May 9, 2008 by Johnny Red
Heraldcoupe Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I'd go for a Mk VI, I think The canopy's got the V-front profile, which is bomber/PR type. All of the fighters had flat windscreens, if it's a converted bomber or PR aircraft, I can't help but wonder how Mr Redburn got into the aircraft????? Cheers, Bill.
Johnny Red Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 Fair point there Bill, I think I'd just do a mkVI spray her red with gray undersides, or am I missing the point here
Heraldcoupe Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Fair point there Bill, It's something I had forgotten about until now, but I can remember this bothering me as a kid - how did they get into the aircraft???? I guess the signs were there that I would grow up to be an anorak. Cheers, Bill.
