PaulN
Hi to all. I've just finished this kit, enormous btw. The AMK's MiG-31BM no 880033. I decided to add some after bits: - Eduard PE no 49 752 mainly to detail the belts and engine area, - Resin wheels ,Eduard no. 648 248; - AMK improvement set, n° 88003U, consisting of metal landing gears, extra photo-etched parts, extra decals and a set of tinted transparents. Following the instructions, I started with the engines, to which I added Eduard's photo-etched parts for the afterburner basket. I painted the metal parts with Krylon spray and marked the recesses with a MiG dirt set. In some areas I painted those pink stripes formed with Humbrol 70 lightened with white, some panels I painted with a green from Revell 362 I hope you like it Regards, Paablo Edited April 14 by PaulN Pic resolution 3
PaulN
In the bathtub piece I added some details of ribs, supplements and map holders that have on the sides, for a molding issue, they come smooth. To the front post lever I added a cam that goes in front of the handle. After securing the fit, I primed with A.MIG-2023 black one shot primer and applied the AMIG-223 interior turquoise Green acrylic. I marked the recesses with the products that this set recommends, AMIG-1505 Gray for Yellow Sand and AMIG-1008 Dark Wash, I painted pink stripes to simulate that sealing putty. I chose to use the decals from the AMK improvement set and not the pre-painted photo-etched parts from Eduard because it seems to me that there is a difference in tones between the color of this and the one I applied and they lose a bit of a sense of volume. The decals adapted very well to the surface of the boards. I applied matte varnish, used the dirt products and finally used drops of gloss varnish on the instruments and screens. I added the pre-painted belts from Eduard's set to the seats. I also added some laser printed maps and brochures. The pieces inside the domes come smooth, in different references you can see that they have a fabric, to simulate this, I added aluminum foil to which I painted Tamiya XF-5 green, the parts without fabric, I left them turquoise green. I proceeded to assemble the rest of the plane, resulting in a beautiful engineering product, where I really used very little putty. I appreciate Mike's article on assembling this kit, I relied mostly on it. Thanks a lot, @Mike Regards, Pablo 4
PaulN
I added the 27 cooling petals in the each engine exhaust, I think Eduard could have make this detail no so difficult. Final result: The real thing: I hope you like it. Regards, Pablo
