AIM-7 or Skyflash

Hello all,

I was hoping one of you Phantom experts out there could tell me when (or if) RAF Germany FGR.2s traded in their AIM-7s for the Skyflash.

The RAFG Phantoms definitely used Skyflash just like all other RAF air defence Phantom squadrons. I can't locate any definite date when they changed over. Wiki says 1978 onwards, but I would say from the beginning of the 80's, maybe someone else has further knowledge.

I was posted onto 19(F) Sqn at Wildenrath in 1986, by then Skyflash was in full use and AIM-7 Sparrows were relegated to war reserve stock and an annual test firing.

Thank you Rob. I figured it might have taken some time from the time the missile was operational until it reached all of the squadrons.
