MiG-23MF RoAF - Bilek - 1:72

Recommended Posts

The MiG-23MF code 222 was involved in a fun event in the day August 23, 1982, when the then Romanian President Nicolae Ceausescu visited the air base in Otopeni, Bucharest, on the occasion of the grand military parade to celebrate the national day festivities.

Since the MiG-23's was the newest military aircraft entered the service Roaf, one of those in attendance was prepared to support a demonstration in front of the "supreme commander", in fact the aircraft with the registration number 222 red.

When it finally arrived the order to take off, the plane refused to leave, with all the efforts of the pilot Dumitru Tache and mechanics (they tried for 7 times), to leave later, after the president had left the airport.

Showing presence of mind, the coordinators of the demonstration have replaced the MiG 23 with a IAR -93, on the grounds that Nicolae Ceausescu did not know the types of aircraft supplied the Roaf and the event went unnoticed by him.
