Dorban Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Hello there, I would like to ask you, if you have a picture or drawing showing opened hatch for radio on starboard side of the fuselage behind cockpit. Not necessarily interior with the radio, but at least inner side of the covering panel and how much is the panel sloped when opened. I just started 1/72 Whirlwind from Special hobby and I would like to add some detailing :-) I will post pictures from the build later in proper topic. Thanks in advance
Dorban Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 Well, I am not a native speaker, so it might not have been clear - I was looking for opened radio compartment and being in WWII topic I had WWII fighter aircraft in mind. Thanks for response anyway :-)
brewerjerry Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 hi Join this group http://www.whirlwindfighterproject.org and then browse the archive, not sure if a photo is there, i cant recall if i have seen one, but my brain is a bit foggy at the moment Cheers Jerry
Dorban Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 This is very relevant link, I've found it a week ago and got permission into archives yesterday. I found almost everything according internal structure of the fuselage (perfect 3D renders) and radio itself including exact type of radio. So if I would like to build fuselage without skin (only ribs), I have everything needed. There is also a picture of slightly opened radio hatch in the archives, and this helps a lot. But I don't have picture of internal side of cover panel, don't know the angle of fully opened cover panel and I don't know how edges of the "hole" in the fuselage look like. On other hand I have to admit, that at this moment it is acceptable for me to use a bit of "artistic" license and I will do it the same way as it's done for spitfire for example. But it would be lovely to have a picture anyway :-) Anyway, thank you for response :-)
Dorban Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 (edited) You were right Brewerjerry, I've got there through all the archives today and I have almost everything I need. Thanks :-) Edited August 22, 2014 by Dorban
