  1. Good morning again And another one: Leopard 1 GR (out of the box - with the exception of the tactical signs on the turret - built MENG Leopard 1 A3/A4) in the early, MERDC-like greek camo scheme like described here: (Sorry, “tank in the fog” again …) Roger
  2. Hi everybody, Tomorrow is the Greek National Day commemorating the rejection of the surrender ultimatum and the victorious repulsion of Mussolini’s attack against Greece. Those more interested in history, they may take a look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greco-Italian_War . For the moment it is enough to say that in fall 1940 Greece was the only other country bar Britain, fighting the Axis in Europe, and this mountain war has been characterized as the first major military setback of the Axis powers. Nough with history though. The below model, a Royal Hellenic Air Force Avro Anson in 1/48, is my small contribution to the commemoration. Eleven of these aircrafts were used during the campaign, having as their main duty sea patrolling and anti-submarine search. After the German invasion in April 6 1941 five of these aircraft (among which the depicted N56) managed to escape via Crete to Egypt, where they formed the nucleus for the renaissance of the Greek Air Force in the Middle East, under RAF command. It’s the well-known late version Anson by Classic Airframes that has been released later by Special Hobby. Being a limited run kit, it was a bit of a challenge in certain cases (i.e. engines and cowlings, landing system), but it was one of the best of its kind that I have coped with. It takes its time, with trial and sanding, but I believe it turns out in a really nice kit of an iconic WWII aircraft. I used the photo-etched provided and I just added a proper for the Greek version turret machine gun. Unfortunately, the decals provided for making the RHAF plane are not correct, being too dark blue and wrong font for the codes. I had to order custom made ones, which with a bit of care and a layer of Future were applied with no problem. The colors, Dark Green and Dark Earth, are from Gunze’s MrColor range, and the more demanding Night undersides were painted with a mixture of 45% German Grey, 45% Navy Blue and 10% Russet, for a more realistic appearance (plain Black just doesn’t look right). Weathering with pastels and post-shading, washing with dark brown and black. I did try some detailing in the interior, but surprisingly not many things can be seen. Hope you enjoy it. Dimitrios K.
  3. Hi all, Very recent finish for the F-16 STGB here on the forum. The build thread is here but to recap: Kit: 1/72 Revell F-16C kit 04844 Build: OOB Extras: Conformal fuel tanks from Hasegawa F-16 Paints: Tamiya Acrylics, Flory Models Wash, Klear, W&N satin varnish Decals: F-16 Zeus II by Procal I broke the very delicate tailplane aerials so need to replace those. And some of the decal touch-ups aren't a match. The canopy should be tinted but I forgot. But apart from all of that, really enjoyed it and love how it turned out. 4. Hi everyone, First posting here so be gentle.🤪 Multiple questions i'm afraid and i hope you can help me... I purchased a HobbyBoss 1:48 scale A-7 Corsair2 kit first before doing homework and i want to give it to my son to make, getting a better more accurate kit. Can you advise a better kit of the same aircraft for me to make please? Secondly, i want to do the model justice with after market detail packs, etches, masks etc, but cannot seem to negotiate the plethora of these bits and kits that are available. Can you please help? Ideally i want to purchase all that i can to allow me to make a fully detailed and authentic greek A-7 in either camo, or if i can get the decals the 'Olympos' special. All help gratefully recieved. All the best David
  5. Dear friends, After the Avro Anson another example of the WWII Greek Airforce. It is the Polish-made PZL P.24G in 1.48 by Mirage Hobby. The kit has some difficulties, namely it is a challenge to fit the engine in the cowling, and get the exhausts right. But in general it went OK. I used Gunze and AKAN colors and Microscale's mat varnish. Sorry for the photo quality, I try my best but... Hope you like it, Dimitris K.
  6. Hi to everybody! First posting for me at Britmodeller, a kind of symbolic, I may say. This is a recently built 1/48 Italeri (Special Hobby reboxing) Spitfire Vc , representing a Royal Hellenic Air Force Sharkmouth Spitfire, immediately after the return of the RAF Greek squadrons to Greece (hence the mixed-bag markings - fuselage Greek, wings still RAF). It wasn't exactly a problem-free build, but with the help of Eduard photo-ethed and the recently published RHAF decals from our native LM decals, I tried to do my best. Hope you like it. Dimitris K.
  7. I noticed while visiting the War Museum in Athens a model of a Hurricane in the typical desert scheme, tropical filter, with Hellenic (blue/white/blue) roundels & fin flashes. There was no serial on the model nor subject photo. Did this scheme exist in real life, or is it 'inspired' by real events? Thanks, Greg
  8. Hi, here's the latest off the bench. Italeri kit with Aries resin cockpit and Quickboost nose intake. Not a bad kit IMHO, just needed a little filler at the wing roots. Thanks for looking. FF
  9. Hi, Here's where I am with my current build. Painted with Gunze and tamiya paints. Nice kit, although the panel lines may be a little overdone in places, and also a little 'soft'. Thanks for looking. FF
