The Curtiss P-6E ‒ Step 6: Colours
Tommy Liu replied to Toryu's topic in The Golden Age Of Transport GB
Great job! This typical 1930's USAAF camouflage reminds me of the A-12 Shrike, Martin B-10 and Boeing P-26. -
Thank you, This will be a good topic as the Chinese Air Force has various planes throughout the War. Chinese Nationalist government imported Italian, German, French, US and USSR aircraft. Thus, you will see either Axis or Allies manufactured planes with Chinese dark green camouflage and Chinese Nationalist insignia.

Hi Michael, I will post more CAF kits, here are two kits in progress now; 1/72 Pavla Boeing 281 (P-26) and Roden He-111A0. Most people have neglected the existence of CAF during WWII. CAF was the earliest air force against Axis groups with miserable and old planes, but they still resisted the IJA/IJN Air Force. They never surrendered. I looked at your P6-E building process, it is a challenge to combine two kit parts into one. This will require a lot of sanding and gap-filling. I will follow that post and wish you luck. Cheers, Tommy

Thank you Russ! Old/Vintage kits have a lot of Bi-plane from Inter-war. These biplanes are barely manufactured nowadays, such as Boeing P-26, Hawk II, III, Etc. If you like biplanes or Inter-war planes, these old kits will be optimal options. I am currently working on 1/72 Pavla Boeing P-26, Chinese version 281, and still encountering a lot of issues the same as CA kits.

Hi Russ, Thank you for your helpful suggestions. I will refer to the historical records or museum pictures before building the interior. I expected that structs are hard to assemble, but it is out of my expectation that structs are all fragile. Do you still remember the four small pieces of structs and 'N' structs in front of the windscreen connect the upper wing and fuselage, are they very fragile as well? Regards, Tommy

Good morning, afternoon and evening, Today I would like to share my 1/48 Lindberg Gloster Gladiator Chinese Airforce, 2909. The plane 2909 was flown by American- Chinese ACE pilot John Poon- Yeung Wong, 29th squadron No.9. Picture below quoted from "Aces of the Republic of China Air Force" - by Raymond Cheung. The kit was bought from an aftermarket, the interior is all PE parts by AirWaves and the decal is made by Kora. Rigging was the hardest part of this plane as I needed to make turnbuckles myself. I did not take more pics of the interior this time. But I took some in-progress pics. If anyone is interested in the process of building, I would like to share them in the comments. Cheers, Tommy H Liu

Multimedia kits always have a lot of problems regarding fitting and sanding. However, it is worth putting those efforts in when you look at your built CA kits that are very beautiful and detailed. This plane was produced during Inter-war and mainly exported to Spain and China. It helped China against the Japanese Army/Navy Airforce from 1937 to 1941. And, it was the supplement of a huge amount of loss on Curtiss Hawk III during the beginning of the war.

Thank you, Russ! CLA kits are always challenging, but they always improve my level. I looked at your special hobby Fiat CR.32 ROCAF, I am wondering how it was. Considering that I also have the CLA CR.32 collection and they are from the same manufacturers, may I have any feedback from you? Cheers, Tommy

Good morning, afternoon and evening. Below is my first Classic Airframes Kit Polikarpov I-152, bought from the aftermarket. The interior resin parts were broken, and there were a lot of gaps to fill and sand. The decal number "305" was broken while removing it from the decal sheet, probably because it is an aged kit. I chose to paint the vertical stabiliser in light blue and white that match the colour of Nationalist Insignia. History Pictures in China Interior I hope you enjoy it. Cheers, Tommy H Liu
