  1. Thanks Darby, I have updated the original post with the wing lights installed. One day I will complete a model without forgetting something !
  2. Cheers Tony I also have the tamiya 1 / 48 mosquito and p47 razorback to build but noticed they do not come with the masks. I've ordered some from ebay made by Eduard.
  3. I will keep an eye out for the overheating Greg and thanks again for being so helpful ! Zegeye, I will be updating the pictures as soon as I have added them. I did not even realize until just after I posted this thread !
  4. Thanks again for all your help Greg, I ended up ordering the silverline 2 in 1 separately with this compressor : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222570708559 The only slight concern is whether the hose with the compressor will fit the Silverline connection as there is no size specification on either. Do you think the compressor is good enough ?
  5. Cheers Greg, I have been looking at some airbrush and compressor sets but not sure if this would be a good buy : https://www.modellingtools.co.uk/airbrushing-set-br--harder-and-steenbeck-evolution-silverline-2in1-02mm04mm-nozzles---2ml5ml-paint-cups-12703-p.asp
  6. Cheers for the link. Certainly in need of an upgrade .
  7. Thanks, I am interested in upgrading. Just out of interest which compressor do you use with the Aztek ?
  8. Thanks Celt, first Tamiya model I have built. Loved the fact they have the canopy masking already marked out for you !
  9. Hi Bruce, here is a link to the finished model, many thanks for your help : https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235042365-tamiya-mitsubishi-a6m33a-zero-148/
  10. Hi, I recently finished the Tamiya Zero in 1/48 scale. I found this much more manageable than my last build ( Italeri Hurricane trop) . I used Abteilung black oil for a wash with advice from forum member pacificmustang which I think added a nice look to the over all finish, the main painting was tamiya acrylics. I used a cheap airbrush and compressor which I think is on its way out as the spring seems very loose after 3 models and I am having to add alot of thinners to get it flowing.
  11. Cheers Bruce, I will post some pictures when its finished. I just looked at your face book page in your signature, awesome models !
  12. Thanks again for the help Bruce, much appreciated . I noticed in the video linked he has not applied the decals yet. Am I OK to use this technique with the decals on, if a semi gloss finish is over the top of them ?
  13. Thanks Bruce , should I use a lint free cloth slightly damp for this. I also wondered if you should scribe the panel lines first or will they be deep enough out of the box ? Would using a tamiya semi gloss be ok for gripping the wash ? Thanks for your help.
  14. Hello, I was hoping to get some advice on using Abteilung black oil as a wash for a few of my WW2 aircraft builds. In this video by David Damek at 20mins 20s he uses the oil as a wash. Would I be ok to mix this with Abteilung matt effect thinner for the wash . I was also interested to know whether it should be applied over a gloss coat ? Any help is much appreciated.
  15. Thanks for pointing this out Joachim. I should have checked. I assumed it was the flaps as it was the only part of the kit with the option to tilt. Will try and change it !
  16. This was the post I was referring to Darby : https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235023685-italeri-hurricane-mki-trop-boxed-with-wrong-wing-set/&tab=comments#comment-2764095
  17. There is a thread in here about it somewhere, I think they have supplied the wrong wing version with the kit. Thanks Corsair
  18. I have recently finished this Hurricane but found it more time consuming than the Italeri Mustang. Some of the parts did not fit very well. The lower wing section needed the best part of an inch taken off and to be filled. It was not until after I purchased it that I realized the kit is known to be problematic. This is my first attempt at weathering as I thought it would look odd to see a clean looking Hurricane! Italeri Hurricane Mk 1 Trop 1/48 SAAF No 3 Sqn Capt John Frost, Jigigga, Abyssinia, 1941.
  19. It was this version : Thanks for the offer but I am going to go with the SAAF John Frost camouflage. Hopefully it will turn out ok.
  20. Thanks Troy, I did see a reply post from the author saying he waited weeks for a replacement and they sent another identical wing which does not fit. I have reshaped the wing and it fits well now. I know its not going to be authentic but I have learned my lesson and will stick with other brands although I was pleased with my Italeri Mustang.
  21. Unfortunately I have run into this problem with the wing fit : I may be able to reshape the wing to fit and carry on with the build but it does seem to be miles out !
  22. Thanks a lot for all the help again. Can I get away with doing this model in Battle of Britian colours with the decal markings provided. I was never really too keen on painting the tropical camouflage but this was the only kit version available. Cheers Darby, I have been using hobby craft and Antics !
  23. Thanks for all the info. The aircraft is RAF 74 Squadron, Malta.
