  1. This jet is cocked and ready to go so I wasn't allowed to sit in the cockpit like I normally would have been! I was up there when they were getting a lot of "Q" launches due to Russian Bears/Blackjacks etc. In fact they had a night launch while I was there. I was staying on the Patch with friends and heard Q1 go over the top of the house. I was ready stood outside for Q2! Full burners in the dark, clawing into the air with a fully loaded jet. Cool! G
  2. Spent some time up at Leuchars and was able to photograph a "Q" jet. click here for my PB album Sorry about the lighting but its a bit dim and yellowy in the HAS Gav

  4. Shaun I got the tamiya F-15 pilot to fit but you have to drop the seat pan to the bottom of the rails Gav

quick question superb photos any idea of the length and thickness of the pylon?? Need to be able to scale it to 1/32 Gav
  6. is that a Q for me?? The putty is the Warhammer/Games workshop two part stuff. Comes in a ribbon, half blue, half yellow. Mix it together to make a green putty. (I think you can buy bigger quantities online for less ££ but to be honest I don't use much) Saw how to use it online. Mix up the two halves into a consistent green. I took a hard placemat (#A4 sized) from the kitchen and covered it with clingfilm. Then sprinkled some talc on it and rolled the putty into a sheet using a big marker pen (with some talc on it) as a rolling pin. Cut to size with a scalpel. The clingfilm makes it a lot easier to peel the sheet of putty off after rolling. Mold to shape with a cocktail stick or whatever. Take any leftover and roll into a ball and roll another sheet. It stay workable for a while. I found it less messy than milliput. G
  7. makes sense. wonder who was flying the day Revell visited? Sqn Ldr Gimli ! :-) G
  8. The Revell seat pans seem to be too high? I tried putting a seated pilot in mine and it was a non-starter! here's what i did to mine based on the photo in aeroguide no 1 (its the old seat with the old headbox) I used the rocket rail as a spine. Put the head box at the top, seat pan at the bottom and added a card spacer and I am in the process of making some cushions from putty. it still fits in the cockpit as its overall height is the same 'cos its based on the rail "spine". ????? Shaun! oh yeah! emptied 3 Argos shops in Swansea of their Hawks started the cockpit and the seats are terrible. they have omehow lost about 6mm of height below the head box and thus the seat pan sits half way up the rocket rails! lots of cut-and-shut going on in my house! Have added the height, moved the seat pan to the bottom of the rails, reduced the size of the base to fit in the gap in the tub and started making belts and cushions from Warhammer green putty (which was fun and turned out OK) I think my first one will be the black 19sqn anniv. scheme Gav thanks mate!
