  1. My very first Tamiya model was a 1/20 scale F1 car. It's probably one of the best sizes for scale details without being overdone. Looking good so far! Jim
  2. I've been busy with building sailplanes for customers, it all hit at once. One day I had a clean slate and the next day I had 4 builds that needed to be done last week. I also started another build on a Tamiya 1/12 scale Williams FW14B just so I could see some color. And, I just started playing with a new airbrush (Iwata Eclipse HP-CS) so,,,,,, the Pocher build is on temporary hold. However, it's not boxed up so I will start again soon. I hope to be on it by Oct. Sooner if I can get the next batch of planes done. The good news is, I've been watching the progress of everyone's builds and the inspiration continues to grow. Stay tuned for more!
  3. I purchased a kit off of eBay and the tires where as hard as a 10 year old donut so I need to find replacements; any suggestions? Thanks, Jim
  4. I really like the weathering effects. That's one area I really need to work on. Very nicely done!!!
  5. Well done! The Tamiya 1/12 scale F1 cars are some of the best models out there IMHO. I have several in the closet waiting to be built. Thanks for the inspiration, Jim
  6. Finally started to lay down some primer. Of course this also shows you all the places you missed when cleaning up the part. Time for round two of parts prep.
  7. Hello Wayne, I received the missing parts, thanks! Trying to find the time to paint, however, the wife wants a boat so it's off to look at yet another boat. Best, Jim
  8. Hello Keith, I noticed a lot of people start with the motor and then stop building followed by an eBay sale years later. Don't get me wrong, I have a couple of WIP models in plastic bins in the shop but I hope or plan on finishing the Alfa. It's nice to be supported by such a knowledgeable group of builders. Jim
  9. Thanks for the links Roy, very nicely done. I have that kit as well and plan on doing all the Alfa Romeo cars eventually. It's almost time to spray some primer but I have a trip planned this weekend so it'll have to wait until next week. More photos to follow. Best, Jim
  10. I've taken a close look at your build thread; very well done indeed! I'm in no hurry to finish; it's all about the journey after all, but I hope the use of a documented thread will help me stay on track. Time for some more sanding and prep work. My paint booth just showed up so I'll be shooting some primer here shortly.
  11. After more than a decade out of the model building hobby I decided it was time for a return and what says, " welcome back to modeling" better than a Pocher kit? So, I purchased a kit off eBay, then struck up a conversation with the seller and that led me to this website. My build will be in real time (meaning, I just opened the box a couple of days ago) so this will take some time. Ex., I spent the past few days removing mold lines, imperfections, spugge, etc and every time I sit back down to get start I find more of the same thing; it's like it grows overnight. Not to mention the amount of transkits, hop-ups, and add on's you can buy to improve a Pocher kit. I've spent more time online buying bits and pieces to improve this kit; when is enough, enough? Actually, I think I've found a stop buying point and just get on with the build. BTW, the build photos posted by you guys are inspiring. Best, Jim
