JASDF 50th Anniversary E-2C Hawkeye
1:48

You will doubtless remember the review I did recently for the US Navy E-2C here, and we've now received the next release in the schedule, which is the Japanese Airborne Self Defence Force version of this beautiful but ungainly airframe.

Essentially, the kit is the same except for the substitution of one part within the nose transparency - a small camera that is different from the US version. Please review the comments and photos of the quality of the components. Suffice to say, it's up to the usual moulding standards that we have come to expect from young upstarts Kinetic, which is no bad thing.

The decals are stunning, having been designed by Fightertown Decals and printed by cartograf, they show off the bright colors of the 50th Anniversary scheme, with blood red Hinomauras, blue and yellow sweeping stripes running under the forward fuselage. Decals are also provided for the walkways and anti-glare panel on the nose, with copious stencils filling up this sizeable sheet.

It is worth noting that Kinetic have now released two sets of upgrade parts for the Hawkeye, consisting of an interior and exterior set. Produced for Kinetic by Eduard (as evidenced by the logo in the corner), these items should improve an already great kit, and as the interior set includes pre-painted panels etc., they should make a quantum leap in detail.

Presently, both sets are available for pre-order with free shipping by air from the Lucky Model website, at a penny under $10 each, so great value.

Conclusion
Another excellent offering of this iconic and often overlooked aircraft from Kinetic. Constructed and painted with care, it will add some color and flamboyance to any display cabinet.
