T-Tango
A little help needed guys, the NF MkII, I was thinking of doing this model (1/72 Tamiya) in the green/ grey topsides, black undersides, now did this aircraft have the nose radar between the 4 browning machine guns?? jenshb
Do you have a specific aircraft in mind? The scheme you describe sounds like the intruder scheme, and I'm not sure if they would carry (then) secret radar equipment over enemy territory... Been wrong before though.... Neil
I think Jens is pretty much right, don't think many Intruders had the 'Arrow' radar aerials between the nose guns. However .... in the SAM Combat Colours No.6, on page 14 there is an Intruder scheme Mossie NFII profile with the radar between the 4 x 0.303" guns, DZ716, UP. L, from 605 Sq. (Green/Grey uppers, and Night underside).
T-Tango
Just found this, looks as though problem solved but would welcome any comments. Pete
Potato Pete
A bit about radar use.... The arrowhead transmitter was used with the AI mkIV, and these were used over the continent by 100 Group aircraft from 1943 onwards (and maybe earlier in pre 100 Groups. The more advanced centimetric radars (with ASH or bullnose Mossies) were released for use over the continent in April 1944. Pete
