......ok in for a penny in for a pound..... ....thou more likely I'm completely bonkers.... a 1/48th Neptune!!! This was a bit of a thought bubble build when going through possible builds for this GB. The thought of building something this large was quite intimidating plus I didn’t know when it would arrive due to delay in production.....but it did on Friday and boy is she something else! (Not sure how they managed to fit something SOOO large into such a small box, same size as the Viggen box) Then she arrived and after said inspection and drooling was a very distinct possibility....but after having a wee play with her yesterday I knew I just HAD to build her. Ok, unlike their previous releases this is a completely 3D printed model (previous releases were a mix of resin and 3D printed parts), the only resin bits here are the clear parts. Some of the 3D printed stuff now is even better than the injection moulded stuff quality wise. The printing on this model is not quite up there, but considering the size of her, it’s amazing and a huge improvement over their previous releases.....and there are hundreds of parts! But what they have managed to produce detail wise is stunning, such fine detail, even down to the curly cable to the radio handset (part #16)! She is a huge beast well over 24”/500mm in length and pretty much the same span wise....gosh knows where I’m going to put her when finished!! Plus weight wise, she’s going to need ~180gms/7oz of weight to keep here from tail sitting! Good thing the main gear has metal rods inserted (they even give you a second non reinforced set. Originally a lot of the model was to be resin cast and the required extra weight was over double!!! For schemes, you get 17 to choose from covering 21 aircraft: US Navy - x4 RAAF – x5 RCAF – x2 KONINKLIJKE MARINE – x3 AÉRONAVALE – x5 JSDAF – x2 Of course for me it’ll be a 10 squadron aircraft which entered service in 1962 (a great year! ), and is now a Gate Guardian at RAAF Base Townsville. As mentioned I have started on her, removing all the excess bits from the printing, only one small issue found, there was damage to one wing (probably courtesy of Auspost!!), a minor repair and easily fixed (and has been now), that section is SO thin! I need to do the decaling on my Phantoms, but will continue with the cleaning up process. After have a good look over her an August completion date is very achievable.....I can’t wait to properly get into this build. ....and the Draken is due to arrive early next month!

Jetmads 1/32nd scale Viggen. What can I say? An impressive model. Very well engineered and very well presented! Resin is brittle, so careful handling required at all stages. Camouflage, it had to be done in fields and meadows! was achieved with Humbrol enamels and a lot of masking tape! I have always loved this aeroplane and now I have one in 1/32nd scale, well I am very, very happy. Thanks for looking Angelo
