  1. Hi all, As teased in the other thread, I finished off the Tiger Sharks which are the bigger T'au planes - more bomber than fighter. I wasn't totally sold on the finish on the Barracudas I did first - the enamel always makes things a bit messy and sticky and then it's hard to get rid of every last piece of fluff. I thought I'd take advantage of the big panel lines and use acrylics this time round. It turns out that you can get quite nice soft effects around features by pre-wetting the area with medium and then wicking the paint into the detail. And because the original paint was lacquer (and sealed with Klear) I could use a wet cocktail stick when I needed to clean up. I need to take some pics of the whole flight, but before I do that I'll try and fix the silvering on the small triangular decals, and clean up a blotch I noticed. One of them has an open missile bay with red-edges doors like a proper plane Thanks for looking! Will
  2. Hi guys. These teeny little beauties are playing pieces for the Aeronautica Imperialis board game. It used to be an insanely expensive Forge World title, complete with crazy expensive resin minis. The plastic Games Workshop set is a much more reasonable prospect, with everything needed to play included in either of two starter boxes. These 'planes are from the first release, 'Wings of Vengeance', there are completely different minis in the second 'Taros Air War' box. Ok, over to Voiceover Man's best Mr. Cholmondley-Warner impression: "988 M41, South of New Rynn City, two plucky Navy pilots are engaged in hunting down foul Xenos aerial defences. Lt Ewe Gallant leads, providing an aerial defence for the fighting pair with his Fury pattern Thunderbolt, armed with rotary cannons and Skystrike air to air missiles. S Lt Jerry Meyer brings the flight's heavy punch with a conventional bomb load and quadruple autocannons. Both aircraft have Hellstrike air to surface missiles, allowing an instant response to any Greenskin foolish enough to try and illuminate them on it's primitive auspex!" The models are a delight to build and paint, with an incredible amount of detail for something so small. They're 6mm scale, or 1/285 if you prefer. The fit was perfect, no noticeable flash and the injection points are in sensible places, easy to flatten down with little need for files and all that malarkey. It's a long way from the Airfix and Matchbox kits I used to build as a kid! Thanks for reading, all comments and suggestions are welcome... 😃
  3. Anticipating being furloughed for months on end, I bought a couple of GW board games to pass the time. Alas fortunately I'm a 'key worker', so I was spared long days fighting aerial campaigns in the W40K grimdark and the Titan Legion I planned are still in their box... yay, etc 🙄 Still, while I might not have enough time to fight endless miniature dogfights, I have been able to put some hours into building and painting a beautifully realised little Imperial fighter bomber. Here's what you get in the kit:
