  1. You are the luckiest man on this forum.....! That is a result in anyone's book! There are quite a few threads on building this beauty, including my own finished result. Plus plenty more online, including the Space 1999 Props and Ships group on Facebook. Good luck with your build and let us know how you get on. Steve
  2. Not too much - a light coat first, followed by a heavier. The cracks appeared suddenly, overnight, about a week after the Clear coats. Bad enough to require a complete sanding down and repaint. I have the Satin Clear also and did some tests first - however it leaves a chalky finish - really noticeable over the flat black, so kept to the Gloss Clear. Anyway - my method worked - the second time !
  3. Interesting - colours used were Tamiya acrylic Orange (X-6), and weathered with Tamiya acrylic Smoke (X-19). Everything overcoated with Humbrol Clear (gloss) - 2 light coats. All airbrushed. To me the orange looks just right, and happy with the final result. My main worry was the Clear going over the acrylics as I had fine spiderlines / cracks developing with it over Tamiya acrylic mat black - fortunately this didn't happen with the orange. For the beak painting I swapped to Humbrol acrylic black to avoid this, as the first attempt went horribly wrong after spraying the Clear over Tamiya black - resulting in the cracks and a complete strip down and repaint....not happy...! 4. Thanks Kallisti. I'm aware of the argument. For me I cant see why the orange would extend up past the windows on the VIP pod as I would see this as a normal all white passenger pod with a subtle internal refit perhaps. Painting the sides only would be enough to designate it as VIP, and then easy enough to revert back to normal, with minimal external work. I can see why the medical pod stripes would extend up however to really show it as a specialist pod for visibility reasons. Steve
  5. Nice job, especially the alu bells. I did not have the energy to stripe mine, so took the easy route by doing the VIP version. Besides I like the colour orange...! Some nice eagles starting to emerge now.
  6. Hi - I would love to - it looks great show - but unfortunately not. Hope it goes well. Steve
