  1. Hello gents, Here are a few of my builds that are in progress. Im trying to get them ready for the 26th of January-Republic Day .Please excuse the rather sorry photos, I only have my cellphone camera to take photos with. The mig21 f13 is supposed to have the canopy posed open, but I keep breaking it off.
  2. Hi Ragtag, It was really quite simple. I brush painted Vallejo steel. I then sprayed on two coats of hair spray. I then sprayed on the green after which I immediately started chipping with a wet stubble brush. Gloss coat, decals, matt coat followed by additional chipping on the decals with a sponge.
  3. Thanks guys , I appreciate the comments . If I spent more than 2 days I may have gotten a better finish.
  4. Hello Gents, I though I would share my recently finished build. I did this as a way of relieving my ASM syndrome. It took me just two days and is completely out of the box.
  5. Season's greetings gents, Here are two of my latest works in progress. The fujimi 1/72 mig 21 and airfix's new vamp. Both a delight to build. I learnt the hard way never to use distilled turpentine as a wash, it ate one of the unit insignias and crazed the other apart from melting some plastic. Apart from that, it went fairly smoothly and all that remains now are a few fiddly bits on the mig and the vamp requires ejection seat handles and some paint on the seats. Cheers, Sunil
  6. Hi John, None at the moment. But there is a museum a short distance down the road, I can take measurements and do cad drawings if you want.
  7. Hey AndyC, The hunter is one of my favourite aircraft along with the fishbed and su7. Yours looks gorgeous and they're in the exact same markings that my hunter is in .
  8. Wow, that looks fantastic, those are the exact same markings I used on my 1/72 revel hunter.
  9. Can do Enzo, Will put the hunter up tonight, the mystere is almost done except for the very annoying windscreen which just wont sit in place without some filing. Spitfires all in the box im afraid
  10. Thanks Rotor head, It was our very first helo. Had six of them, two went to the navy, I think they operated off the ex RN , HMS Hermes.
  11. Wow, that looks gorgeous.Bigger is definitely better . I love your connie, got any more pictures of that?
  12. Glad to hear that Radleigh, I've got a lot more IAF subjects lined up to post, hunters a whole swarm of vampires, fishbeds and what not. Ah, and thank you for the welcome.
  13. Thanks guys, For the warm welcome and the tips. Do I need to remask before I spray the gloss on again? Or can I risk spraying over the clear parts. Mr.B , the finish actually was slightly grainy , I buffed it lightly with the same cloth I used to wipe my glasses.
  14. Thanks Sgtraf, more work on the way soon, hunters and vampires to be exact.
  15. Thanks trickyrich. Those things are true one day kits. They're that nice and they sell for the equivalent of 5.5gbp here including glue, paints and brushes. The only down side is the slight pebbly finish of the plastic, metal paints don't take too kindly to that.
  16. Thank you for the welcome . Those are the airfix vampires got three in various stages of completion. Lovely little things, will post those when they re nearing completion.
  17. Why are they turning up as links?? I followed the instructions exact, I think.
  18. Hello Gents, I've been a lurker here for a few years now. Finally joined up and decided to post something here. What I've got here is the Italeri S55 in 1/72 in IAF markings. Kit was nice, went together decently except for the fuselage which didn't want to line up. Which is strange, considering I built the exact same kit a few years ago and had no problems. The problem was if you aligned the engine vents, the clam shell doors wouldn't line up and vice versa. I decided it was better to match the vents and then sand and rescribe the doors. The original aircraft was painted silver and not bare metal, so I chose humbrol enamel silver thinned with nitrocellulose thinner. Decals were by bight spark. I didn't coat the model with a gloss layer, I brushed future on the reverse side of each decal, this made them conform nicely even to the double contour of the nose. I didn't gloss coat out of fear that it would dull an already not so bright finish. The model is almost finished apart from some detail painting and a few fiddly bits. I did not weather as I'm not sure what to do. So if someone can suggest something i'd be happy to experiment. Cheers, Sunil dev Prasanna http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t533/dpsunil/040920133485_zps48d01947.jpg http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t533/dpsunil/040920133487_zps0d9ba140.jpg http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t533/dpsunil/150920133547_zpse09bcc78.jpg http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t533/dpsunil/150920133541_zps279460c0.jpg http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t533/dpsunil/150920133551_zps5e7b4613.jpg http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t533/dpsunil/IZ650_zps9809040b.jpg
