  1. I see. Yes, you are right. This is just sanded plastic... There is no putty in.
  2. Hi, if anybody here is looking for finished model, here you can find the complete build http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234958953-kinetic-e-2c-hawkeye-148/ And here I took some new photos with model already balanced to front. http://imodeler.com/2014/04/kinetic-e-2chawkeye/
  3. Hi, this is Miliput. There was bad connection of wing to fuselage - a hole... Also, the connection profile of leading edge of the wing to the fuselage should much more flat than in this case.
  4. Hi, lately i found a way to add more weight to front, just behind the cockpit. I put totally around 80 or 90 gr to get tail to the air When you succed in putting more to very front parts you might not need such weight... And thank you all very much, guys. Now it is time to build something totally different.
  5. My long lasting build is finaly over. The most annoying experience was neverending discovery of many assembling and painting issues. I tried to get model as much accurate look as the real plane's got. The kit is very good, but very tricky sometimes and it is really hard to avoid mistakes and inaccuracy. I hope I succeeded, more or less. Now I am much more prepared to build another one Hawkeye - not immediately, but it's the plan The build is here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234907625-e-2c-hawkeye-148-kinetic/
  6. Nice built! And how did you balanced the plane to keep front gears down?
  7. Fuselage, wings and flaps are almost done, just few details left to be paint. Undercarriage and doors are last steps to complete this fantastic bird. I added static electricity dischargers (made from toothbrush) on tail and few antennas in front part of fuselage. Except of clear parts everything is demasked now. Wash is complete. Top is sprayed by semigloss lacqueer a bit, the rest ot the aircraft is gloss. Contrast between matt smoked and glossy areas looks very good... Next week the work is stopped, I leave for vacation.
  8. This is almost complete weathering of fuselage. Just smoke and some details painting is missing. Unfortunately I am leaving for weekend, so no progress is certain for next four days. But next week you can expect really many many pictures as I will have plenty of time to finish this model finally! Now I wish you all nice weekend and many pleasure with your own builds - many of them really inspire me!
  9. Yeah and just one additional information... I found photos of some machines, which are wearing shorter walkways... All of them are version 2000 as you can see below. But these walkways are still different from these in decals sheet not only the colour is different but also the shapes.... Anyway I still don't understand, where Fightertown decals got the idea to put them on THIS machine...
  10. Thank you all you like this build. Your support is very important a energizing me to further work... I step to next level - weathering. I always want the real look and hope this is the right one. I used few good photos to see all parts and all angles. It was fine, but how to transfer that look on to model? I started with salt and painting some stains of Dark Sea Gray. Walkways were untouched, I painted them later with very light FS16440. Then I washed out salt, and made dirty surface with thin Medium Gray - on the upper half of the fuselage, tail and wings. At bottom half I made stains with Dark Sea Gray. Then it is salted again only on selected places - rivets, corners and the very botom line near antennas. I also covered some areas with paper sticked with Tack-it. This should make cleaned or older re-painted areas on the fuselage. At this moment there is already overall thing a bit lighter FS16440 filter with some "repainted" places and rivets. But as I made bad experience with Gunze H colour, which was not dry enough - you can see walkways light stains which I had to repair... - , I left it to dry over 24 hours before I wash off salf again.
  11. Here is almost done rotodome. Only fine wash and lacquer is missing. The procedure was quite easy: 1. Basic color FS 16440 2. Dirty made by mixture of Buff+Dark Sea Grey (some stains are made using torn piece of paper) 3. Salt 4. Global overspraying with mixture of White+FS 16440 5. Local lightening with mixture of White+FS 16440. 6. Washing salt
  12. Thank you all for support! I am starting really enjoy this build - finally! And lets start with little bit weathering on the rotodome. I mixed tamiya Buff with Dark sea gray 1:1 to get right "dirty" shade, but I would use it only somewhere and that what you see now will be suppressed a bit by basic color. Now it is more visible than I want to. On the bottom I would only add just slightly amount of wash, nothing more. The fuselage is now going through decals correction procedure, so it would take some time to start weathering it too... Most probably I will continue on weekend.
  13. I finished placing of decals. Nicely printed, but few awful mistakes... Walkways have bad shape, they are too short on the top of central wing and poorly joining together near the top door under the rotodome. Tail walkways are much better, but also - they are too long, you have to cut them (which is something I would prefer instead of extending them somehow . Fuselage NAVY and unit no. letters are too large. Tail black stripes are pretty fine, but you are not able to avoid painting gaps between them... And the worst mistake is too short stripe on the bottom of tail... I don't know who made these decals, but the are really really bad. I hope Italery reworked this scrap. Now I have to paint tail stripes, which thing i would made instead of placing decals ... Then I would start with heavy weathering of the aircraft - I dreamed about this many many nights, so it would be something extra special.
  14. Hi, after few weeks I am back again with some progress. I finished overall basic colour and lacquer. Just yesterday evening I started with decals, but no picture is taken yet. I will take some after finishing decals. The main issue was to get perfect surface everywhere and I must admit I am not 100 % satisfied, but I am really tired with this build and it is very difficult for me to paint it in better conditions than I have now. (but I am still enjoing it.) I found out some mistakes in decals, but I don't care, I have no other option just use what I have.
  15. I have spent last two days by painting propellers. Still unfinished, but really close. Just missing red and white stripes and scrape them a bit (a lot .
