  1. Hi Jon As Edgar says it's impossible without a photo but I can say that the initial order for the Barr and Stroud GM2 sight was placed on the 12 July 1938, GM2 mkII on the 19 July 1939 according to Spitfire The History but no mention of when they started to fit them as standard. Photos of the period suggest a ring and bead sight, 19 sqn in May of 39 all have a ring and bead sight. The well known picture of 65 sqn to which I think Edgar is refering to is very clear on page 24 of Spitfire by Robert Jackson and it looks clear to me that it's a ring sight. If it were my model I'd go with the ring and bead but it's your model so it's up to you and it's a case of prove me wrong if you can! Kind regards Craig on a hill in Herts
  2. Which is why I went on further down to explain what I meant. As I said the difference was not as great as I thought and John put me right and that's fine, he has better information which we can all learn from. Regards Craig
  3. John If you actually read what was written you'll find that the comment I made was that there was too greater difference between the upper and lower surfaces. You'll find that John also found the same, now the differences are not as great as I thought as John has pointed out and I stand corrected in the face of better information. My level of understanding is just fine thank you. Regards Craig
  4. And that's actually what I said is it Dave? I think not. Craig
