I plan to build a short tail P-40F and the markings in the old Almark decal sheet seem interesting.

Apart from a poor photo showing a captured bird (which could be this plane or another with the same codes) I found absolutely nothing about this bird.

Can you gentlemen help with some info or photo?

Thank you

Ed,

In one of those moods tonight.....! Not a good week.

Cannot be bothered with looking..

Have four 'references' that you are most welcome to on a CD. So you can look yourself...

I am currently preparing to build a P-40F, as well. I cannot comment on this particular a/c; however, my research applies as follows. These early a/c were painted USAAF "Sand" on the uppersurface and Neutral Grey lowers. It appears that the earlest were painted sand over OD. Some a/c show masking over of the serial numbers, stencils, and even the canopy frames, so that OD appears as a background (see; P-40 Aces of the MTO, Osprey and the Zotz Mediterranean Warhawks decal set). The sand color faded over time to become a chalky pink hue. Finding clear photos of a particular a/c may prove difficult. Enjoy the search and the build.
