Another Egg for the Basket

This was a little project my daughter embarked on over the Easter weekend, with some help from me.

trendy boxart with Manga style figure (Not Supplied) to appeal to the kids.

the kit went together fairly well- simple job of painting the office and adding the IP + side console decals.

a nice touch was the provision of a plastic "weight", which i thought would be ineffective - but it seems to be enough

to keep her on all three points. But it also helped put the halves together. the alignment was still out however and i had to intervene with some sanding

and filling.

one point that cropped up was that the Princess used liquid cement, which worked well in parts, but in others the seam line kept popping back!

so i sanded smooth only for it to reappear!? this after 24hrs, by which time it should have cured.

in the end i scraped out the still soft plastic, and used the Jen Formula of talc + CA. worked a treat! thanks Jen!!

the decals were also tricky. The Princess had problems getting them to slide in position, and the first one curled badly when treated with Klear.

the others went on well with just water and there was no silvering.

the purists will be horrified to see that the Princess chose both the Jolly Rogers, cos Pirates are cool AND the Felix the Cat decals. Cos Felix is a groovy cat.

it was all i could do to prevent the Tomcat being painted pink with a manga face (that will be the next one ) in case this could be entered for the Naval Forces GB.

But Shaun wouldn't let us play BOO! SHAME ON YOU Shaun!!

all that remains is for the tyres to be touched up where they were removed from the sprue. and a little flight deck display stand.

Any way it was great fun. The Space Shuttle is now on the wish list plus something for the pink scheme

The Princess was delighted cos it looks so cute and that makes me happy too

And a Spook! it's a bit of a shame the reboxings don't have the figures and bases

saw one built with a witch landing on her broomstick with an arrester hook on her garden path- there was an egg plane too!

Too right Kitty! i'm already looking for the Space Shuttle

and eggs seem to always go in batches of at least half dozens

at least they don't take up much room- not like Bex's 1/48 cranberries
